And regardless of what server/torrent you are on.  Your download speed will be dictated by the upload speed of who you are connected to not public/private server.

But the point is that the combined upload speeds on a good private server will always be massively higher than public servers because of they force members to upload unlike public servers.

they make you seed and to hit 1.1 you unstrangle your client, some sites bombard you with leeching email, until you hit 1.1.

edit.

be 24 pro,do 2.5 kb/s up, so 2 seeders giving back 2.5 MB is a lot faster than 200 seeders with strangled clients at 10 kbs

I pay for a premium usenet provider. I can get the same with my ISP, but without the retention.

Some people will happily pay a premium price for reliability, good service &speedy delivery.

Well again thats arguable, I dont pay a penny and same as you I have loads of films, Im lucky my ISP has never restricted me, I often hit 1mb, as you know an average film is 700-800 MB big, down in 15 min, thats fast enough  for me, so Im Very happy. unless you live next door to your exchange your speeds can vary a lot, I hate ADSL2, over the years I tried them all, at least Virgin keep their speeds so my downloads are fast.

also the standard price for 20 MB with VirginMedia is £37.00, I pay no way near that, put it this way the new deal stopped me going to be24.

is that unrestricted, VM havent hit you with this then, Traffic management, LOL you escape the.

There is some overlap in the 3% of uploaders and the 3% of downloaders. Our data has identified that the top 3% of uploaders and downloaders makes up fewer than 5% of all users.

astraweb - no speed limit, no bandwidth limit. Youll see your connection maxed out pretty much all the time

egg, what newsreader program is that screen dump taken from?
im using newsbinpro, its alright but not that user friendly interface

my paid for usenet server (maximum usenet - think they are a resellar tbh) is up for renewall at the start of feb and i have cancelled my auto renewell as connection to their server is up and down like a yoyo sometimes.  considerably cheaper than giganews but i might have to start paying a bit more for better service.

anyone reccommend anyone else other than giganews / astraweb thats already been mentioned here?
