Actually, after reading up they are getting better and better. I reckon by this time next year it will be silly not to go SSD if prices have come down.

Due to changes in the way they select sectors to write to they dont overwrite freed up ones unless they are forced to by the rest of them getting filled. That cuts down drastically on the reliability issues. They should be about as reliable as a normal hard drive, providing there is a reasonable amount of freespace.

There are also new technologies being developed which over the next few years should drive the price down.

thinking about it.... Id want them to be pretty damn good....


anything more than a microscopic amount of degredation and I wouldn;t want to download to them / have a swap file on etc....

which means Id swill want my normal HDs in raid too.... which kinda defeats the point of having the SSD drives in raid too !
