New Projector Purchase!!!
on: July 04, 2008, 19:49:02 PM
I was looking for a TV for the bedroom, to plug in to my media centre PC I have in there... then I came across this:

Optoma ES520... which comes with a free 55" projector screen! For £233
http://www.dabs.com/bundleview.aspx?quicklinx=502N&bdi=682

I set it up last night and I am very impressed... No its not HD, but I dont play any HD content in the bedroom, I have a Sammy in the living room for that and my Xbox.

Currently I am projecting at about 76" on to a white wall and looks good (so will sell the screen and get more money back), it doesnt take up any useable space in my room so thats a bonus.

Spec:
    * Exceptional Brightness of 2600 lumens
    * Native SVGA resolution (800 x 600)
    * Superior Contrast at 2000:1 for unparalleled image clarity
    * Optoma Colour Enhancement Technology for deeper saturated colours
    * Lightweight and Portable - only 2.4kg
    * Exceptionally long lamp life - up to 4000 hours
    * Extensive RS232 command list for AV installations
    * Password Security & Kensington Lock

Previously looking at projectors I thought 800 x 600 wouldnt be enough but my non HD films all run below that res, the brightness is good, so the room doesnt have to be dark, although normally will be if I am in bed!

Just though Id let you know if anybody else was considering a projector at a bargin price!

set the screen & see the difference.. theres a thread on AVForums about mixing your own paint.

I bought screen material fomr Harkness (IIRC) & some Stretcher bars from an Art Place - now I have  a 77" fixed Screen :D
