Title: Still looking for a decent email client
Post by: zpyder on November 11, 2017, 04:56:15 AM: I asked this a year or two ago I think.

Basically, I want an imap email client that is web based. Doesn't have to unify the inbox, but I just want to be able to log in once, and see all my email accounts.

Once upon a time I used gmail, but didn't like the pop only.

I then used outlook.live.com and that was great, for a while. But one day I think MS changed something, and half of my email accounts stopped updating and nothing I've tried has seemed to get them to work again.

I then moved to AltoMail, which was a bit clunky, but at least it did what I wanted. However, they're shutting the service down due to the company being bought out.

Bluemail was recommended ages ago, the app is great, and a web client is promised, but I've been signed up for the beta for ages and nothing has materialised.

I guess maybe the switch o outlook365 caused the issue?

Post by: Clock'd 0Ne on November 11, 2017, 07:59:42 AM: Outlook is terrible and janky, whoever is behind the new interface has made a real hash of it, don't bother. Gmail supports IMAP now.

Post by: zpyder on November 13, 2017, 18:26:53 PM: Gmail supports Imap for it's own servers, but when importing external accounts it'll only do it via pop3? Or did I miss something?

Post by: zpyder on November 17, 2017, 20:31:58 PM: Think I'll just have to accept that for emails, when I'm on the go I'll have to use my phone. When I'm at home at least I can use a client like Outlook or Thunderbird.

If I absolutely need to write a long email from another computer I can just log in to that email accounts webmail :/

Post by: zpyder on November 18, 2017, 22:51:46 PM: Well in an interesting twist...I noticed that the IMAP folder structure of the two funky accounts included some sub-folders called inbox and other similar things. Nothing was in them and I figured they must have been created when outlook or another program was being set up.

I deleted them, re-added the accounts to outlook (selecting the option to not create any new folders in case that's what did it last time), and it seems to be working.
