ok, new world up and running, looks even better than the last

Ill start levelling the spawn area ready for a base to be built

problem with the server was, for some strange reason the 2500xp-m cpu was running at 516mhz ?   its not running at ~1ghz..... still half what it should be.... and theres no options for cup speed in the bios.... (old Packard bell)

Ill google a bit later and should be able to sort it.... but Im happy to send it to you soopa and we can see if it runs better ?

I cant get access to open ports, and because its techically a live server Id best not mess.  If it was straight forward, I would :D

Unless you want to try sending me the server, and Ill have a punt

I dunno but that kinda takes the fun out of it all now. Why bother going on epic cave exploration missions etc.

I could just about justify the tool recharge cheat, but not this.

EDIT:

Just logged in. Damn.

My love of minecraft has gone to 0 now. I dunno why this has bothered me so much but instantly the reasons why I loved the game have been squashed. No more is it about the challenge of getting the materials bit by bit and progressing a project. Now its just construction. As I said to bacon who was in game just now, I was tempted to follow suit, and spawn a layer of TNT on the whole thing.... and nuke from orbit.

I chose to just log out instead.

we can put up a new server in a couple of days and I can disable the spawning of items ?

Maybe we shouldnt "op" everybody.

Its not really got the fun factor at the moment anyway.  Whats really the point of the game?  Theres too many bugs, stuff that will be fun doesnt work yet, putting the wrong tile down causes the server to crash.

Its fun just having a laugh, and when its a little more stable, make it serious.

The tool recharge isnt a cheat, its a bug.

Lets start afresh, one op.  No spawning.  Shall we discuss it on my balcony?  Or infront of my inglenook fireplace?

Yeah I do agree with zpyder actually, it does seem all too easy to build (and destroy!) things without a care at the moment, it takes the challenge away. In fact the only reason we first started using the codes was to get lava to flow (since the bucket method is buggy and doesnt work in multiplayer).

We should just leave Alan or whoever is hosting as op, the joint digging projects and building projects are much more fun. Earlier on it was pretty much an every man for himself with people going off making crazy things, which is fine like making a nice base for yourself, but isnt really going to keep us motivated for long.

So yeah Im all for it :)

I was quite amused by the map earlier. I arrived, there was nothing.  So I scratched at a tree, until it dissapeared, with the intention of making some sucky wooden tools.

Then a kind hearted geordie appeared and offered me tools from the back of his van.  Who was I to say no!!  Chaos ensued.  Im not sure what happened next, but all I remember is
diamonds, glass VIP rooms and lots and lots of lava.

(p.s. its crazy slow for the first 30 sec of a new map)

(p.s. no-one has op, only way to run op commands is directly at the server)

The new map has worked out nicely so far, everyone has found diamonds, etc and got tooled up. Ive opened up two zombie dens on my own and cleared them out, i had too much loot to carry, including saddles.

Riding the pigs is fun

I went on a massive mining expedition and came back with enough diamonds to make a full sets of tools and nearly all the armour except boots (which are currently gold!), i need 1 more diamond to complete the full set. :D And all without console commands.
