Whoever has started on the mindboggling skyrail that goes right across the map, OMG

Unemployment (un)benefits ;)

EDIT:

And you should see the mine I made to get the stone. It's in homebase, around the corner from the chest/store area...

I've started work on a sky transport system but have run out of cobblestone. Currently it connects the homebase with skybase. I'm wondering if there's some kind of elevator that could be constructed, other than massive ramps with minecarts?

LOL, Errrrm I built an underground rail system from the sky base to the main base yesterday, and it's powered :P

Blech, I was wondering what the deal was with the lava buckets in the skybase.

Oh well, I've started now, pretty much just need a few (only about 10 ><) stacks of iron to finish the rails to connect the towns and bases/buildings, and then to build the water elevators.

At least travelling by air you get a better view ;) :P

Haha no worries, although the lava buckets are nothing to do with me ;) BTW if you want iron, I have some already smelted I think..

One thing I've noticed, is jumping from Minecraft v 1.6(I think) to 1.8, it seems things like coal and iron are a LOT more abundant than before. Back in my solo days it was a struggle to get enough iron to just make enough tools to get more iron!

If people want to donate materials to the transport infrastructure, the donation bins are in skybase ;)

We knew it had to be a combination effort as just one of you couldn't have done the skyrails and the underground rails too  :) (needs a bit more powering by the way we reckon)

I'll throw some tracks down near my skytower, I've already connected stone steps up to it.

I was standing around gormlessly in the desert at night. Got blown to smithereens, but in the process managed to excavate a way into an underground cave with quite a few resources. I'm thinking I might end up doing nightly wanders in the desert with no equipment and seeing what my suicide bombings can't unearth :D

If you meant in cave up the tower, I've fixed that one now, you can get end to end without issue, may drop an extra couple at the skybase end next time I'm that way, just to speed up the journey

warp to gorge next time you're on, I just started going north for a while and came to it, it's pretty sweet.

I changed the skyrail bit that links the offshore banking centre to nether-rack and glowstone, I wasn't happy with peasant cobblestone  :w00t: :ptu:

I noticed, that's cool.

My plan for the skyrail is to make the "hub" the area above "homebase", with tracks going different ways branching off from there. I figured it'd be less hassle than having to get on and off the tracks at junctions etc (I don't know much about tracks and whether you can have junctions!)

You can on mine cart mania, and if possible I'd suggest installing it as you don't have to power all the bits of the track then? I'm sure there will be something on the wiki to make junctions anyway, I believe it was a block of obsidian under the track on MCM

Looking at it there are ways to join tracks and they joining carts always go south or west, but it's not pretty. I'm liking the idea of using detectors/powered rails to create stations though :D
