This is a great read and highlights a few key things
http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/07/01/the-dark-knight-an-extraordinary-cinematic-revolution/

- Firstly the guy in the past has slated Imax in a big way and to be blown away by a movie filmed in this way is something to say  - yep done well
- Next is how well this movie has been put together, I always thought this would be good going on the first and the cast and the director and the script but wow, the amount of detail they seem to have put in every aspect of this movie is amazing.
- The first movie batman begins was a good movie and made well, the only reason it did not do well in the box office was because it was a batman movie and that name has been scared in a big way with the previous movies so it put people off going to this one and it was marketed with caution. I myself did not see this until I rented it on DVD and was blow away, it was done very well and for me set a new standard for comic book movies and a number of comic book movies followed suit in the same way in terms of the direction and style it was filmed in, the new hulk movie was emulating more this style showing how the previous clearly is not the direction to take these movies.

Dark Knight Will again I am sure raise the bar for not just comic book movies but all movies in terms of how you make it and how you market it. I think they have done this very well, not to much and not to little it has been a perfect execution just about and even with the death of Heath Ledger which was very sad it has not really effected the movie in a positive or negative light - it still has had the hype regardless.
I am sure Heath Ledgers performance will be outstanding as every comment about him before and after his death in terms of the filming had everyone saying how amazed they were that the clean cut actor played the joker.

What concerns me though is that while it may be the best movie we all here have ever seen or seen for a long while because of what it is (action movie based on a comic) that the Oscar folk and others may not consider it anything of anything when the time comes even if it fully deserves it. Some of the filming, director, writers, Heath ledger all possible candidates for something but because its what it is they may not take any notice which would be a shame.
If and when awards be it Oscars or other comes and The Dark Knight does not get the recognition it may deserve it will show it is about time these things change and the quality not the type of movie should be better considered.

Even that is the about the golden number for the length of a movie and I am sure dvd and blu ray it will be a bit longer as well.

It is planned as they are signed up as you will have two face in it and one other villain revealed at the end.
Bale has said he will keep doing them as long as the scripts are good but has flat out refused to do one with Robin and i think they should not. It instantly comes a bit cheesy when you have the boy wonder added and in this series I think it should be about batman.  The proper story this is based on has Batman a lonely figure for a very long time, it properly sets the feel of his loneliness and then how he takes him in. It would be very hard to do a film in this style and not be cheesy in my opinion. The only thing that would work in this gritty style is batman beyond. The very successful cartoon series where batman is older, struggling close to killing a criminal with a gun and handing in his wings and then a little time later a young boy under his fold becomes the new batman. This is not a cheesy concept and could work well in a movie format.

Sales are doing well then, lol.
I have only seen a couple of bad reviews from critics well know to slate even the best movies who tend to get it wrong anyway.

Question though: How are you UK folk watching it when it does not premier till Monday in the Uk? (21st) I hope its early screenings as watching it in crap cams would defiantly spoil this one.

Has any one else read Christopher Tookeys review in the Daily Mail?

Do the daily mail pay him to be such a miserable b*****d all the time?  Unless its lord of the rings, there is something wrong with it.

In this case despite the praise he gives it, its too long and too complicated.....and to dark.

More to it, you do not know about Racheal, you do not know what he is trying to do or his correct back story as it is not the Joker who killed his family.

He is one of the guys that gave it a bad review, Rotten Tomatoes is a good site with a load of critic review rounded up. There is just a few out there that just slate the big movies because they know everyone will love it and can not find themselves to like it to. As you say - Miserable old gits really, Still it is all down to us, if you like it then who cares what they say, they seem to be well and truly the minority on this one.
