Not had a chance to play much, but I did manage to kill a shark with a grenade, so it's pretty great so far. :)

Glad they kept the fire physics from FC:2, that was one of the best parts of that game (the malaria thing was rubbish, almost stopped me from finishing it).

The wild-life can also be used strategically, I took out an enemy camp with a Tiger. Amazing. 8)

Waaay too many tutorial pop-ups in the first hour though, that got annoying.
Also the guy you're playing as is a trust-fund douche-bag, I can't really empathise with his situation (or his friends, they all deserve to die), but the villains are great characters though. :D

I've had a good few hours on this and have already concluded this is the same old same old, it's woefully uninspired and I'm left thinking just how long it's going to take people to twig and say hang on a minute haven't I played this before? yes, yes you have.

6/10.

'Uninspired'... what, like CoD, Battlefield etc? ;)

Granted, the subject matter isn't all that cerebral but it's not a rail shooter by any stretch.  It's a f**kwit running around a tropical island killing people and avoiding being eaten by the local wildllife - I can't expect Mastermind.  Immersion is where it nails it though; it's also one of the best looking games I've ever seen. :)

Yep, all mediocre/crap.

IMO current crop of circa 7 year old consoles haven't got the grunt any-more to do anything next level with the physics, environments, number or characters on screen, AI, graphics/engine or anything that could really change the dynamic.

edit - but yes I agree it looks pretty good and is a technical achievement for pushing the hardware to its max.

I already got my money's worth out of it when this happened for the first time:

So I'm low on health, and being being chased by a guy into this river, when, out of the blue, this happens:

(click to show/hide)

So awesome. :D 8)

My first shark kill was from running into it at high speed, with a Jet-ski. I then turned said shark into a wallet. Game of the year, 2012. ;D
