Anyone picked this up? Its a RPG random dungeon hack & slash
Development of the game is led by Travis Baldree, designer of Fate, and Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer, co-designers of Diablo and Diablo II, joined by the team that developed Mythos
To be honest its just a Diablo 1 clone (which is never a bad thing) with some updated graphics and game options. Been playing it for the last few hours and really enjoying it.
Its also nice to see a new game that is small (500mb) and designed to run on lower spec computers, hell they even included a netbook mode!
Could only find some of the pre-release screenies from a quick google. The UI is different now but rest is same :)

Saw this on Giantbomb. Very cheap and a small game with no online but very good. From what they say and what I seen of it it looks good.
It may be a little harsh to say it is a clone of Diablo if you take it as someone made a game like it but the people who made this made Diablo. The guy who did the music for it and not done anything else got back into the game to do the music for this.
The idea is to make some money from this. The builder will come out soon so people can make their own dungeons etc soon And the goal is to have the funds to build and MMO based on this which will be micro transaction based.

Heh not harsh in this case because it is a pure diablo clone, as you said the music guy is the same (exactly same music), more or less same classes, same level up/skill system and trees, same combat system (left and right mouse which you change skills for), same gems, merchants, gamble, transmuting, weapon styles, +stats, town portals and identify scrolls, I could go on and on.
Basically the only difference between this are diablo are that this has a perm pet (dog/cat), can learn a couple extra spells, new engine, some class changes from D1.
And its damn good fun.

Im looking forward to playing this, just gotta get through Borderlands (going for at least 2 playthroughs), and Dragon Age.

Funny you posting this as I was only reading up on Diablo III the other day and getting withdrawal symptoms, Id like to give this a try as I considered reinstalling Diablo II but really want some classic Diablo style play. Its being raved about by everyone that gets their hands on it.

Do not get me wrong, Your right, I was just pointing out it is the same people so while it is a direct clone with modern elements coming about from wow it is kind of OK because they did make the original. If that makes sense?
If it was by other people then you kind of say - well hang on, you ripped it off to much.
Anyone played Dragon Age from Bioware? It is meant to be rather good.

I have lost some 3 hour periods to this, looking at the time and going "wtf its 2:30am? Oh well I need to finish this level/quest/etc" :bounce:

Nah not yet, my PC wont be able to run it and I cant afford it on 360 yet. Looking forward to picking it up (or borrowing off mate when he gets bored :P)

Torchlight is half price this weekend at £7.49 on Steam.

Is this really like diablo (I never played Diablo)...Ive been playing for a few hours and am finding it a bit pants, and if its like Diablo I am left wondering how that series was so popular? Its a bit easy and simple. Am little just doing primary attacks on things and killing them, over and over...
-
Its very much a clone of Diablo 1 gameplay wise. The hack & slash concept it a bit simple however what torchlight doesnt have compared to the Diablo series is an excellent story... thats why they were so popular :)

I think Torchlight does start off very easy tbh, Diablo was much more challenging and atmospheric from the get go - you had more boss character elements and more storyline as Dooms pointed out.
Torchlight is great as a veteran to the series since it builds on many aspects of D1 to bring it more inline with D2s improvements, but it is still lacking a lot of the charm of Diablo and has been made too simplistic. Even normal is quite easy later in the game (especially as the Vanquisher who is vastly overpowerful tbh). Im still playing it though.
Thinking about it, the number of times I died at the hands of The Butcher (the first Diablo boss) Ive lost count of, I used to feel genuinely anxious about opening to door to him!
