Toshiba Wireless Problem
on: May 02, 2006, 19:30:19 PM
Im trying to diagnose a problem for a friend. He has a wireless network at his house.
The broadband is provided by BT, and the Router is a Netgear DG834GT.

He has a PDA, Laptop and Desktop all using this wireless connection.

The desktop and PDA use the wireless network fine, no disconnects and get a good signal.
The Laptop seems to disconnect every 10 mins or so and wont pick the network up again.

Ive gone over the settings in the router and in the laptop and from what I can gather they should work.

The interesting thing is, His last toshiba laptop didnt work properly either.

Im tempted to swap the wireless card for a spare Intel one I have here, or even lend him my Netgear USB stick to see if either of these work.

Can anyone suggest what may be happening for his laptop to just "Forget" about the network? I think he has Zone Alarm and Norton Anti Virus installed on his laptop and his PC, and there are other detectable wireless networks in the area.
