I heard that if you do not have a genuine windows 7 the USB starts to give more trouble.

I have a 'friend' who has been running many copies of windows 7 which are non genuine with zero problems to USB, in fact I can't think of a reason why they would have problems anyway.

I agree with Leon, I think any of those kinds of reports should be taken with a pinch of salt as they probably come from people that don't really know what they are doing. Drivers/USB won't be affected by activating Windows legitimately or not.

This guy do know what he is doing, but did not run WAT remove just did'nt bother with warning of not genuine etc. after a while with black desktop (the themes does not work) USB stuff started to have trouble so he ran the WAT remover and the problems stopped.

All sorted now!! Got a PCI card from ebuyer, put it in, Win7 recognized it straight away, so no CD needed!

Activated win7 and all is good!! :)

I'm presently running one PC which does not have windows 7 registered. The install isn't illegal, it's in some grey area between the two and doesn't even have a key. It is part way through it's second month after using a reset option and there is no problem with the USB at all.

http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/use-any-version-of-windows-7-free-for-120-days/

Then, at the end of the 120 days, you can clean install and start again. Even if you miss the end of month you can still use the above method and it will still work.
