Decent but not too pricey DECT phone

So it turns out you can make voice calls on your ADSL line, who knew? lol

My current landline phone handset is rubbish, it's the cheapest corded phone I could find at the time I moved out into my own place about 6 years ago. I'm looking to get a cordless phone so I don't have to sit in one place every time I want to make a phone call, however I don't use my landline very often so I don't want it to cost the earth.

I've looked around for some review sites, but as is the way of such things they only seem to review the top of the line model which costs £200. I'm not looking to spend more than a quarter of that at the maximum.

I'm getting the impression that Panasonic and Gigaset are the big names to watch out for, but the cheaper handsets from both seem to get the same complaints on Amazon user reviews, ie the ringer isn't loud enough and the sound quality isn't great.

So is there a DECT phone available for under £50 (preferably closer to £30 but I want something ok) which gives good sound quality and decent range (my house is 3 stories, I'd like it to work on all 3 floors)? I also need to be able to hear it when it rings!

any and all suggestions welcome.

The only ones I've ever heard people say are worth getting are the Panasonic ones, but as you pointed out they aren't cheap.
