networking problem
on: February 04, 2007, 21:42:27 PM
if I click my workgroup icon on my desktop I get the standard "workgroup is no accessible, you might bot have permission to use this network resource, contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions,   the list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available"   mesage...

if I go into "my network places" (via the link on the left in my computer) I have links there for the router (which you have if you have show UPnp devices enabled) and a link to a shared folder on my old computer.... (whether that computer is on or not)

all the other computers ping ok (6 of them and 4 nas drives)

cant seam to work this one out... have uninstalled/reinstalled sharing, restarted a few times, changed workgroup name then changed it back... changed the name of my rig etc... (things that usually sort something daft like this)

any ideas anyone ?

Ill be back in a min after Ive checked to see if any of the other computers can access me at all...

edit:

and if I disable my network card... I can access the workgroup no problem (but obv. theres nothing in it then)

such is windows networking

sometimes it will work, sometimes i wont

something that normally works (but isnt recommended) is install the ipx protocol

somehow the comps see each other easier

tis a very dodgy bodge job

Ive had this recently, its probably due to one or more of your machines not having teh correct nodetype:
