Author Topic: Zodiac... Did I really just sit through 3 hours of that?!  (Read 803 times)

Oh christ...

First it was spiderman 3, now zodiac... 2 most recent films ive paid for and seen, both abysmal.

That said, Zodiac makes spiderman 3 shine like a diamond encrusted bucket.

3 hours, with a conclusion that could have been drawn an hour into the film (see below... SPOILER), everyone in the theatre was just thankful it ended.

I was actively figgiting in this showing just to keep awake. Chose various positions, I found the head in my hands between my knees was the most comfortable.

Do not go and see this film. If you value your time more than that of watching paint dry, on a paint waterfall... you will not like this film.

>>> SPOILER COMMENT BELOW >>>

and its a crap one... basically they give up... and the suspect they think did it, may not have done it, but probably did do it, but its a moot point as hes dead anyway!

Running time query.

I entered the cinema at 9:30pmish... left there well after midnight.

That to me makes it close to 3 hours. but websites list the running time at 157 minutes. I certainly felt like 3 hours after the gazillionth "X years later" appeared on the screen. Surely it cant have been that short.

yeah, the trailer looked amazing. but it was just spiderman 3 with instead of superheroes... suspects thrown in, all the time, and non-sensical patterns being made (why would a child molester shoot a cab driver, when his previous targets were teenage couples).

I thought it was more about cracking the cipher and the murderer, but it was mainly aimed at the cartoonist, and how much it affected his life cause he obcessed over it. I have patience... but I want a pay off at the end to be worth the wait.

They kept you thinking, but just seems that they wussed out at the end and got fed up of writing. The ending wasnt even filmed. it was given to you in the credits. "Mr bob...never did find... yada" that kinda thing.

You do realise its based on real life and a second movie based on it?

Yes... "based on" not the actual account of, nor a dramatisation of.

Its a movie. It should have an ending.

As for the second movie...at least in dirty harry the killer died as part of the film, and it was a definate person.

Aye and thats real life. But despite this being based on it, this is still a movie, not a documentary. Just as DH was "loosely based" on it, Zodiac did have some room to manouver.

It was a poorly written film at the end of the day, far too long, and its shown by the fact that the writers never did write a decent ending for it, but instead left it to a piece of descriptive text shown just before the credits.
