8 Miles through london
on: March 18, 2006, 14:30:42 PM
I need to get From the Park Royal area to the Caledonian Road and back every day next week.

Whats the fastest way of doing it without having to walk more than 10-15mins?

Car/Taxi = too expensive (£10 a day just to park at the hotel!)
Bus = ?
Tube = 42mins

I just cant believe it takes that long to go just a few miles.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

FWIW I live in angel & my office is right next to tower hill station - door to door it can still take 25mins for me (inc walking to & from tube stations)

tube will be the quickest for longer distances across central london in rush hour - even cyclists have to stop at the lights

cycling is quicker than everything else though & probably would probably be the quicker than the tube for me(short distance) though I dont own a bike at the moment

Eight miles should be easy enough on a bike and cheaper than most other means of getting there ;)

Either cycle it or take the tube.  I havent been to london for years now but it was straight forward enough to get around by tube.

Id just take the straightforward route and chage and Green Park.  Then either walk or take the tube accross from highbury & Wellington.

If there is anything I learnt in my visits to londinium its avoid the very old lines where possible.

LOL - it is Islington not  "Wellington"

the quickest way is just to simply get on the tube at Park Royal and get off at Caledonian Road

hmm 40mins seems the best possible time, I cant take a bike up - for starters I dont even have one :)

I was wondering if itd be quicker to walk to another station like West Acton, then go straight down the central and up picadilly but it makes no diff :(

Curse thee hotel agent  :evil:

Edit:

West Acton - Oxford Circus = 23mins
Oxford Circus - caledonian road = 11mins

= 34mins :)

add extra minutes for walking to west acton? - If your closest tube stationis park royal that is

extra minutes for changing tubes at oxford circus during rush hour

extra minutes to walk from islington to caledonian road - or to go to caledonian road from islington via tube

surely it would be quicker for you, and a lot less hassle to simply get on the tube at park royal and get off the tube at caledonian road assuming those are the two closest stations to where you are staying and where you are working
