LoL female pecking order, I think u should try to say NO !!!
especially in the matter of malpractice, say NO and if she says WHAT ? ask her to take it to the boss.

I really dont like confrontation though, I sort of bottle things up for weeks and weeks and then eventually I cant hold it in any longer and I just explode, Im terrified its going to happen very soon thats why I need help and quickly!

Then confront her, or unfortunately youre stuck in the rut youve created for yourself.

And Egg... that would be another girl youre thinking of.

Right ok,

a) I dont have a contract

I was under the impression that it is required with 2 months on being employed.   However, a statement of terms is the bare minimum required by law iirc.

If its someone dumping crap on you, then do it, and make sure the higher ups see that youre doing it. That way you get noticed, and more importantly it gets noticed that the other girl is doing nothing. :)

thats complete BOLLOCKS

if the "higher ups" see youre doing extra work they will dump more and more work onto you

Skinflint and perfectionist. Find someone who has half a brain, that you can trust, and get them to do fourty hours of what you do.

Occasionally confrontation is required, or you end up being walked over. Keep a diary, also keep a list of things you need to do, bring it out every time she asks you to do something you shouldnt and add it to the end. Tell her that you will get onto it as soon as you have done everything else. If she complains then tell her you are working as fast as possible, if she wants you to do something else then she should do some other work herself.

Get them to give you a contract stating what you should be doing. If shes being insulting or abusive then try using a recorder and play it back to the boss. Keep recordings on your home computer too.

I think unfortunately the clue is in the job description - youre effectively an assistant so you get to do all the stuff your dentist doesnt fancy doing. And unfortunately as they are the qualified one...

Have you spoken to other colleagues to compare experiences? Is there any chance of the nurses rotating by default?

Other than that, it could be worse, you could work for Knighty  :ptu:

(On a serious note on the "it could be worse" you probably do a fairly static 40-hour week and leave most of your work at the office - which some people would definitely regard as positive factors in a job).
"Within your 'purview'? Where do you think you are, some f**king regency costume drama? This is a government department, not some f**king Jane f**king Austen novel!"
