Bad work colleagues....
on: January 31, 2008, 22:10:10 PM
Started a new job about 3 months ago.

Im once again a dental nurse.....

I love the job but the dentist I work with (a woman) is always taking the micky by adding extra work on top of my usual workload, every week since Ive been there new things have appeared for me to do. By the time shes done shell not do anything at all at this rate.

How can I stop this happening without being rude to her or complaining to the owner?
(Which I really dont wanna do - and dont know if I could either lol)

Oh and bear in mind that Im waaaaay too nice for my own good at times, I put up with way too much crap from people - always have!  :gag:

The only thing you can do really is read over and check what you are contracted to do. She may simply have been easing you into the role and building up your duties.

Yup... could be youre expected to do what youre doing. I just finished a week where I was given task after task, and had a to-do list spanning 2 pages.

Dealt with it... then this week, im in the clear :) relaxed week.

If its someone dumping crap on you, then do it, and make sure the higher ups see that youre doing it. That way you get noticed, and more importantly it gets noticed that the other girl is doing nothing. :)

Right ok,

a) I dont have a contract
b) I run around so much already that I see myself passing myself the other direction
c) She is VERY lazy
d) Theres so little equipment I have to run around like a maniac to get things clean
e) She even has me righting all her notes now and doing most of her x-rays (which are clearly her job as Im not qualified to do it)
f) This one is just for knightys remark - I dont have time to be doing all the extra stuff its not as though Im standing around all day doing nothing! (Thats what she does)

She is a slave driver and cannot and will not accept that people cant always do things just at the very second she wants them to!

If this is really the case it could be mal-practice if you need to be qualified to do these certain tasks and you most definitely should raise this with the director.

For the most part Im with Alan though. Sure I have lazy days, but I work damn hard and put in the extra hours where needed. Too many people are work shy and expect to get it all for nothing - not that Im saying you are at all - but it seems to be breeding these days.

As you know Nige I am not lazy, and since working there for only just three months the running around I do all day has dropped me almost a dress size so far - and thats with xmas in the middle and Im eating more than before! I wouldnt exactly call that being lazy tbh. The woman is so darn lazy she wont even take something out of its bag when needed she passes it to me to do and stands there glowering at me till its done!
