Christmas presents

what's everyone buying for presents?

I'm a bit lost tbh.... my g/f is awesome at this stuff, she's sorted presents for everyone else for me... but idk what to get her

I screwed up her birthday, I planned to buy a basket and a selection of creams/lotions/girly stuff like that, put it all in the basket and then give it to her

had the receptionist at work help me pick stuff... it all came from amazon, I left it in the box to keep it all clean/nice (was delivered to work)

opened it when she was on her way over... it was a giant basket with 3 tiny sh*tty bottles in it :-o

I had to text her to let her I know I screwed up to try and head off the disappointment

2 weeks later she knocked it out of the park, framed photos of us together, a little collage thing with photos of us, a pair of socks with her photo printed on (in joke between us) etc. etc.

so far I've snooped in her bag and her bedroom to photo the creams etc. she uses (she's big into skin care) and bought all of those, plus some extras I've heard her mention

but I'm stuck for something more romantic, need to keep thinking about it

what's everyone else doing?

I'm well past the stage of doing slushy stuff with the missus and she's not really into that anyway, I struggle just with getting her films, etc that I know she'd like.

If she's already on the ball with sentimental gifts, what about something you can both do for the memories, like would she be into something like a spa day or that type of experience? Maybe a posh afternoon tea for two or something romantic like that that you can both do together? Maybe book a holiday for you both somewhere like a romantic weekend city break over Christmas/New Year?

You can find personalized framed heart maps on Etsy that can show either the location of where you met or your first date, they're really cute and sentimental, could be a winner?

we went to ramside hall for a spa type thing a while back, it was a bit or a let down, might try another place... we're going to go to Iceland early next year, haven't booked it yet, waiting to find out when her exams are

I'm trying to go a bit above and beyond... she's awesome, I need to put some extra effort in

a couple of weeks ago she was coming over late on, I'd been re-concreting the factory floor and stuff like that for 2 weeks, doing crazy hours, I was knackered and my house was a mess... pile of dirty washing, pile of dishes in the sink, etc. etc.  I got away from work early so I could tiry up before she came over.... she came around extra early (has a key), did all my dishes, dirty washing, cleaned my house top to bottom, fresh sheets on the bed and baked me a cake!

Hiya!  Hope you're doing good!
Lol bus station might not have been the most romantic place to meet but hey, it's the sentimental value behind it!

All different mate when you been married for so long.
I got nothing for my birthday. My wife's birthday coming up and she wants a new handbag but its not in stock anywhere yet so not bother. You just go out for dinner and do something nice/get a baby sitter more.

Since our birthdays including kids are..
August, September, October, November and wife's next week we do not bother with xmas presents on the adult side either.

People say gift vouchers are crappy thing but for me it is really good. If your not sure you give something that someone can use to get what they really want.

TOP TIP:
I am not sure in the UK how things are but APPLE tend not to be in the big chain shopping Malls. Westfield is the main one here. You will often get Westfield vouchers from companies/work etc.
If you want something Apple there are stores that sell Apple products but they can be limited stock and not quite the right spec etc.

You can buy Apple vouchers so if a shop in the mall with their voucher/card - Just use it to buy those and then go to the apple store.

bought a little book called "50 things I love about you"

it's just 50 blank pages you write stuff in

"I love it when you XYZ"  etc. etc.

with my handwriting it'll take me forever to fill it in and have it readable :-o

I think she'll really like that :-)

A lot of adults realistically now have pretty much anything they need, and if they really wanted it they'd have ordered it.

It's insanely hard to buy something that's not,

1.) Tat
2.) Going to actually get used

I just stick to getting a nice card, last 3 years I've done a Christmas CD (yes CD in 2022)

If you've no idea what to get a significant other and you've no kids, just arrange a day to go to one of those enormous shopping centres like bicester, trafford, meadowhall etc and both get drunk and make sure she/he picks something out  ;D

I'd like some Christmas CDs  :D

Also, I have this same conversation with my mum every single year. I tell her just give me money if she insists, as I buy/pre-order everything I want throughout the year as I'm a grown man with my own money, but she still buys me sh*t and tat. Even if I give her a list of things I've specifically avoided buying so she has an excuse to get me something decent, she goes rogue and buys me presents as though I'm still 5 years old that I have zero interest in. :-\
