I have 3 points on my license and got snapped again.
So I can do driver awareness course for 95 quid and 0 points.
Or not have the f**king hassle and pay 100 quid + 3 points.
If I opt for points, I can always do the course "next time" if I get caught speeding again?
6 points affect insurance much?
-
Bit of a gamble isn't it? they don't have to offer you the course.
-
Just do the course. Its 1/2 day.
As long as you get involved it goes quite quickly.
Just sit there & it drags on.
as for affecting your insurance.. do an online quote & change your points from 3 to 6 to see
-
Just do the course, they only offer it you once as far as I know. I did one and as egg says they prattle on for a bit and give you a little sheet to fill out, you pass by simply staying there for the duration. Treat it as an afternoon out away from the trouble and strife :)
-
yeah, do the course, they don't have to offer you the course so it's not worth the risk
course is a total waste of time, and most of the 'facts' were made up at the one I went to - the power point slides they use said stopping distance at 90mph is 8 times linger than stopping distance from 70mph etc. etc. etc.

It'll likely be stats from the original highway code, roads full of pants cars with drum brakes

just realised I typed 'fasts' instead of 'facts'
now I'm not sure if it was a typo, my crap spelling or a freudian slip
-
Went for fine. Can't be arsed losing 4 hours of my day.
-
fine doesn't matter, it's the points that screw you
now there's no paper part to drivers license and it's all shared info with insurance companies etc.. your insurance will go up too
should have kept your american drivers license and sent that one in instead ;-)
-
Don't care if my insurance goes up a pound.
-
I said the same thing when I had 6 points, and 9, and 12
kept my mouth shut at 27 or whatever it was I ended up with
-
I don't drive like a nutcase like you do :)
I got done at 72 because the speed limit dropped to 50 (in a variable speed limit area).
And 38 on a 30 at night.
I don't go above 75 on the motorway which is where my miles are.

I was doing pretty well, clean licence for about 5 years now...
but after I fell through the roof, guys at work got caught 3 times by cameras, vans registered to me at work address, but of course I didn't get them....
so it looks like I'll be getting 6 points for each one of those now :-(
-
If they are work related vehicles then they should be registered as such. Just explain the situation carefully and politely that they are work vehicles and driven by other people. Also explain you were unable to drive at the time due to injury.
There should be records of who drives each vehicle too, so you can identify the bastards and give e'm a good kic...err telling off.

trick for keeping records of drivers is to check the CCTV... problem is I was off for too long so old footage is gone
already checked with a solicitor, I'm pretty much fecked, too many people trying to get out of speed camera points so they don't care about excuses
not replying to the letter asking who was driving is worse than actually speeding, it's 6 points at a fine of 1.5x a weeks pay recommended :-s

If the guys know that some/they are guilty are you not in a position to get rid if they don't put their hand up?
-
could be any of 4 drivers and they're all saying it wasn't them
I'd kick off but after I fell through the roof they all came into work that Sunday and cleaned the place up, then painted the walls (smoke damage from fire)... then worked 12+ hours days for the next few months while I was still rough (we do long hours anyway, but this was worse)
figure I owe them one so it's no biggie
was banned for a year before (when it was me going through cameras) and it wasn't the end of the world, I'll build a new electric bike and do a 6 month ban
