BA having fun?
on: March 30, 2008, 03:50:56 AM
Seems the problems at terminal 5 have become terminal for a lot of peoples flights, theres also supposed to be 20,000 pieces of luggage stuck there that should have gone out with the passengers.

Then they were told that limiting people to £100 compensation per night to pay hotel bills is illegal. So that went out of the window and they will now pay reasonable expenses.

Then I was watching Terminator 2 and a Cadburys advert came on, the one with the airport vehicles running along the runway, one of them strewing suitcases all over the place. Then my brother suggested, "now we know what happened to BA."

If they cant get something like this right then whats going to go wrong next? Will they ever manage to fix it?

I think it is funny, they spend all that money and rush the finish and opening to get it on any where near close to when it was supposed to open and then fail to train staff properly who then go and bust the machines, lol. Heard a few things about the machines failing etc but seems to stem from lack of staff training on the new kit, rofl.
Bit of a disaster, lol, well they got the new train station terminal sorted and all was well so will at least give them that one to balance out I suppose, lol.

Its just a bug in the baggage handling software.  theyll fix it and then itll work.

Stupid it happened considering they tested it so thoroughly but it happens.  T5 will find its feet quickly enough.

What I dont understand is why they went straight to full capacity.  They should have saved some of the testing money and put it live in stages.

I know its exclusively theres, but they could get kicked out by BAA, BA dont own it, if BA staff ruined T5, more reason to kick them out.

It is becuase you also have the lack of training for the staff who have no clue or struggling with all the new stuff on top of the bug = total mess. So they are building up as they also train people properly

A mate of mine was part of the staff that installed and tested it.

According to him the BA baggage crews or terminal staff didnt get released from their regular jobs for the 4 days of testing they put the system through. Id imagine that testing by people who know how something is supposed to work rather than the staff who are going to use it is redundant.

They didnt, theres more to move in at the end of April...

T5s problems have led BA to consider postponing the transfer of its long-haul operations at Terminal 4 to the new building, which had been scheduled for the end of April.
