Ebay August Seller Update
on: August 25, 2014, 16:13:14 PM
Anyone care to explain the finer points :P

From what i can see its not worth going for Top Rated Seller to get the 15% fee discount.

It looks as though any contact made by the buyer except the option for "other" is being counted as a defect against your feedback stars which in turn is effecting your Top Rated Seller status.

It looks as though sellers will have to pay return postage fees on all purchases.

It looks as though there will be 180 day returns from November.

Thats all i got, its given me a headache reading about it!

But tomorrow i need to explain it all at work, this is going to effect my sales!

Just last friday i had someone order a scenic engine then call me to tell me its the wrong engine for his trafic! He agreed on the phone to pay the cost of return postage, then put the phone down and opened an "item not as described" case, quoting it is not fit for purpose. Of course it isn't its the wrong vehicle you fool!  :muttley:

180 day returns??? I feel for anyone selling on ebay. We just sold a table and chairs, and we did it through messages and avoided their rip off fees.

the postage thing is part of the new sale of goods act & came in a few months ago - it affects all online retailers.
180 days to report a problem isnt it? not return it? this just brings them in line with their Paypal terms.

Managed returns looks to be another headache, Ebay forcing sellers to use specific return courier services with set postage costs?

Ok for books maybe but what about engines? Maybe i read that wrong too, they need to explain it all a bit more tbh  :w00t:

And it would appear they dropped a lot of their Top Rated Sellers down to Above Standard. It makes me wonder if this is because they realised too many people were taking advantage of the 15% seller fee discount for being a TRS. I have read about companies doing 20-35k a month that have been dropped to Above Standard overnight.

None of this really makes sense, just another headache for me! I just need to keep us from getting our account dropped to below standards and getting suspended next month, as it would appear that by offering excellent customer service and cancelling listings/transactions before the items have left our warehouse due to damages etc is now counting against me and i have unwillingly and unknowingly caused our score to go below the minimum recommended with no warning whatsoever? Wtf!
