I thought so, BUT just asked my mum!

She says that the digital ripper thing might be better so anyone any ideas where I can get a decent one ?

I got my mother one for xmas a few years ago when they 1st came out. She loved it.. but dont know how to use it  :-D

Anyway, I was going to suggest to look at Ebuyer because they have quite a few different ones starting at £35 & if you use Google Checkout, youll get £10 off which you can send me 1/2 for being helpfull

The digital ripper thing just acts as a go between, you can use a microphone input just as easily and software to sort out scratches and such like.

IMO get him a digital photoframe or a good MP3 player, if he hasnt got one.

TBH most of the old records are available remastered and in MP3 format already, if you are prepared to have a look around.

I gave the gf one I built one out of an SD card reader and a PSONE LCD screen.  Easy enough to do, making a nice case is the hard bit tbh
