fooking virus
Bacon:
Ive not been on here for a while although i do read the forum from time to time. Im also in touch with Nige.
Since it started the first lockdown i was made redundant a week before furlough, so got zero furlough pay and once my cash had run out i had to find work.
Ive been doing manual work for various companies, very heavy work, delivering into peoples homes, to room of choice mostly.
We average about 750 - 1000 drops a month per 2 man crew, for the first 6 months we didnt have to wear masks, for the rest of the time we did, about 1 in 50 people will wear a mask in their homes.
I have met people from every red zone during each lockdown and from all over the world who have moved to the UK to get away from Covid.
In total i have now delivered to around 15,000 homes, i am Immuno Compromised and i also live in a pub, i have met 2 people in that whole time that were actually sick, and one of my cousins who went abroad apparently had it until the Coroners report which confirmed he had a heart attack and they put him into an induced coma assuming it was Covid, he later passed away as they failed to treat his heart attack.
Lets just say i should be the ideal candidate to have caught it, people tell me i am lucky, but not lucky enough to win the lottery, what do i believe, who knows!
PS I and my colleagues were all sick with something in December 2019 to January 2020, it was like no virus i had had before, high temperature, fever, coldness and shakes, fatigue and serious muscle pain amoung other symptons, my city has a high population of Asians, over 22,000 about 1/5 of the population, so i assume we all had it already.
I am on facebook if anyone wants to chat or hookup, ask Nige.

Same, my mum was living with me temporarily at the time as she'd repatriated from NZ, she was working in the local hospital wards and I'm sure she brought it all home to us as our Christmas was a write off and I was still not back to 100% until months later; constant coughing, lack of taste, fatigue, pains, coldness, etc.

I've been sick several times this last year with "colds" that were worse than normal. Lost my sense of smell completely on one of those for a day. That was scary, didn't realise till I was doing the laundry and found I couldn't smell the detergent. It was the strangest sensation sticking my head in the tub and having a sniff and detecting absolutely nothing. Have had 3 covid swabs all negative though.
Interestingly in NZ were getting mini-epidemics of other viruses. A recent one was RSV, usually kids are continually exposed to all the different pathogens and build up immunity. Being cut off from the world for a year meant they all lost it.
As soon as we briefly opened up to Australia, all the stuff they have over there went rampant here as there was little immunity.
I'm assuming that's what's been happening with me and our toddler, so there'll be another wave once we open up again!
