I was gonna say washing line. The fraying of nylon at the left edge give it away I think

The object in question is not any form of cable or line, it has two distinct ends.

Given the difficulty and range of guesses on this object points will be distributed accordingly :)

And that with just 1 minute, adrock reminding me of the frayings and zpyder saying two distinct ends got me to this answer if correct :)

 :nana:

Thats the "We have a winnah" banana :D

Current scores:

Bear +15
XEnity +15
Ceathreamhnan: +6
Eagle: +6
Pete +6
Serious +2
Sam: -1
Dogbert -1
Eggtastico -1
Sweenster -1
Knighty: -2
Clocked: -2
White Giant: -2
Adrock: -2
Deviance -2
Mark: -2.5
Bigsoy: -3
Alien8: -4

Interestingly I do the + scores first and Bear was winning by a mile, but after I took away the negative guesses it brought him equal to xenity. Fact is that even at -4 if Alien8 can guess one correctly first hell be up there in the big league, so its still worth guessing, and making lots of guesses, though it might cost you some of your "win" denies others the points boost too.

And on that note, I am currently out of photos/objects, and so we will have a commercial break. In the meantime can I get some feedback on whether anything in this little game should be changed, and if so, how?

Nope, thatd require a different kind of microscope, a compound high-power scope to be exact, with magnifications in the order of 100-2000, as opposed to a stereo zoom microscope which does between 10-40 normally. Theyre for different applications ;)

pah with such puny magnification you may as well just get the object closer to your eye for the same effect ;)

I guess yours is more suited to looking at bugs n plants n stuff?

The magnification is so puny most people here have difficulty recognising the objects in question :P

My scope is meant for doing practical things under, dissections, inspections, electronics etc. Its got 2 seperate objectives which gives you a 3D view through the eyepieces, rather than a flat view coming from 1 eyepiece. At anything more than x50 magnification youd start to struggle in terms of using tweezers and scalpels for moving things around without mechanical assistance. The 100+ magnification compound scopes tend to be pretty much for looking at things at a cellular level on a slide, for identification work only. Theres not much use for me when trying to ID an Ant or something to be able to see only the tip of its mandible... :P

and if anyone finds they are finding the game too easy, (seems unlikely but.....) I recommend viewing from a computer with broken graphics card drivers. The forums looks pretty trippy in 16 colours!

come to think of it, I have no idea why I came in this thread from this machine, since so far I have dismally failed to identify anything even in full colour.
