Ill post the answer tonight. Might as well make this a mock run to see what people think, if any changes should be made etc.

It is actually the zoomed in gap between the watch glass and the metal bezel. The light blue "sealant" area is actually the edge of the glass which has been microscopically chipped through wear, and is at a slight angle so as to be visible...

Well Eagle, Ceathreamhnan and Knighty got it right. Score wise Im thinking the following:

Eagle: +3 for getting it right and being the first
Ceathreamhnan: +2 for getting it right and stating the part first (would have got +5 if you had pinpointed where abouts!)
Knighty: +1 for getting it right
Bigsoy: -1 for getting it wrong
Clocked: -1
Sam: -1
Mark: -1
White Giant: -1
Alien8: -3 for getting all 3 suggestions wrong!

Suggestions before continuing? Its going to be hard to find things that are abstract enough I think!

It was a generic unveiling, as opposed to correction, for the benefit of those who couldnt figure out what it was. You got an extra point for guessing the location, youd have got more if you had said anywhere between 9-12 oclock too :D

There will be, the challenge is to find something that is encountered by people daily, or at least that most people will know of and so be able to guess it, which also is obscure enough when magnified. I keep wanting to do obvious things like newspaper or carpet etc, and some things which I think would look cool would at the same time not be guessable as the part could be found on multiple different things etc.

So in short...patience.

Ive actually now got 3 lined up having said all that!

Heres mystery object #2

I dunno whether itll be easy or difficult, I thought #1 was going to be dead easy!

Remember you can suggest more than one thing, but the random scoring will penalise you for getting loads wrong...but will reward you for being first and/or accurate...

Is this a subtle hint that its too easy, or that no one wants to play?

I think its a chess board, or checkers etc.. ?

the white lines must be glue between the layers of veneer ?

edit: might be wrong on the glue, could be some sort of marking ?  looks very thick foe glue... compared to the grain of the wood ?

Is it a marble with a flat disc through the middle? The bubbles make me think this, but then its hardly microscope magnification needed for that  :?
