I swear the BBC news technology section is some of the slowest news around.  Custom PCs something they only covered a few months ago.  Now this....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7052223.stm

There are 2 types, technology enthusiasts and those who just ended up in that area of journalism.  I just cant help but wonder who they are hiring, or who they think they are aiming at.

My M8 Knows the Main Guy who does it, He is an idiot, a wanabe tekhead who not only does not have to know a lot he has to get total and utter confirmation and official and approved stamps from his bosses to publish
The only time this bit of the site is up to date is when he or an odd bod attends a press conference thats for all tech news people

In this case a lot of companies are even further behind and are still using WEP rather than WPA. They should have changed over but their bosses are basically morons. This is part of an attempt to try getting companies to switch over to an effective encryption system.

And yes, WEP was broke before it even got accreditation. It isnt so much news as informing people that they really should be moving on.

the thing is, some companies think that WEP is the only thing they should use.  One place I worked at were using Drayteks set to 64Bit WEP, then they locked all the users out of it.  This with a VPN tunnel on them into the main company infrastructure.

Basically there is little reason these days to use WEP unless you are using ancient hardware.  I think all the modern consoles are WPA-PSK compliant, but I may be wrong.

Tbh, the only reason I consider using WEP (i like how the nature of this thread has changed so quickly) is because Nintendos DS & Wii will only work with WEP atm afaik acronym etc......

DS only does WEP but the Wii can do WPA. Im stuck on WEP for some reason my router is having none of it.
