Title: Holiday booked!
Post by: Rivkid on September 30, 2009, 11:20:53 AM
Well through being ridiculously poor we havent been able to do ANYTHING this year - not even go see the missus rents in France. However have now booked 4 nights in a log cabin in Yorkshire! Looks awesome and even has a hot tub :) Yeah the weather will be crap, yes everything will be closed and yes its a cnut of a drive - but man am I looking forward to it!

Saw it on hotukdeals that specific dates were crazy cheap - got it for £160. Well chuffed!

That looks cool. Nice bit of rest bite. Make the most of the weather no matter what it is and do not let it get to you if not good and you should have a nice time.

I hope I can get away just after Xmas myself.

A holiday no matter where or even if its 4 or 10 days, as long as you relax it will do you the world of good.

If that is Griffin Forest, and it looks familiar, myself and the lass went just after the new year and its cosy as hell even in the cold. Just a stones throw from York to. The hot tubs are welcomed in the winter :D Its just getting out of them first in the cold :P

If it is Griffin Forest you should be pleased with the place :)

Its Keldy Forest in North Yorkshire. Its close to Griffon actually - its about 35m from York.

Wonder if theyll mind me building a rope swing  :heehaw:

Ah yes, the same people just in the other section of forest. When you get there dont be put off by how close the main road seems to the forest itself. Once in there you will not hear or see anything of the road :) The roads to the cabins though are a nightmare for modded cars, my lowered suspension wasnt to keen on the mud paths :P

Cool cheers for the tip. More concerned with getting stuck in mud or ice than anything - me Punto wont suffer from uneven floors but it could easily get stuck!!

Should be alright. The roads are like a mud base with a gravel top on them, but they are solid, Just look for the pools of water as no doubt its a pot hole. At night anyway or in the dark there is no lighting for the road so you will be crawling along anyway if its anything like Griffon was.

My suggestion is to go watch a few horror films set in the forest before going, such as Eden Lake :D

Only if you intend on a midnight stroll tbh :D

I watched Open Water before going on my first blue Water liveaboard dive trip. Its a pants film but the cowboy attitudes of the Egyptian boat crew didnt help (reversing into the group of divers waiting for pickup by the rib...?)
