I watched the conference video, while nothing more then what has been said and the specs real and still no news on eu release they did show off how using safari browser and ajax and xml and web application concepts you can make an application NOW on your pc that works in a browser to do something and then use it on your iphone.
Means you can have the custom applications on the iphone but not mess with the core of the phone which apple do not want you to do. People will hack it and do that anyway of course but it is a cool concept to create your own applications which is what people want to do but not harm the phone
Problem I see though is part of what we been chatting about in terms of needing net use unless you can save web pages to the iphone to run them offline but there were not clear on that

Including the N95 with its horrible Symbian OS.

More rumour and strangeness going on
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-iPhone-8GB/dp/B000IJO9SC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/203-8668061-2058369?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185558769&sr=8-1

Amazon seem to think they MAY be able to sell it

The other news is that the EU iphone WILL have 3g and edge was only for the US version and it looks like not just one company will get it either, since it will be a EU release and different countries a lot of changes for the phone have had to be made to work in the different locations, as mentioned one will be 3g support.
The other news is that as a result of being EU that because phone companies are in each country and some owned by a larger phone company etc in the UK it looks like Vodaphone AND 3g, O2 and orange will ALL get the iphone, role on the price war if true.

Last time I checked 02 had a exclusive deal with apple.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6272226.stm

Amazon should be able to sell it, on behalf of 02 I suppose.

That is a report you can find them sorts of comments for vodaphone as well, but becuase of the nature of phone companies in the EU and who owns what since 02 may be uk but then the people who own Voda in other countries they have the rights to the iphone and will be able to sell them as voda anyway etc. These two are 70% certs apperently and while orange had been lacking they may get a lucky break and if indeed the extra features for the eu phone are the ringtone options as well as the 3g, 3g may get it as well

Nexus. Please you are confusing 3G - a collection of technologies, with 3 - A phone company.

No I am not, 3g very well may be part of the phone which I have stated, I also stated that becuase of the EU ties 3g may be one of the providers as well, so no I am not

3g, vodaphopne, o2, orange with voda and o2 the more likley 2 but more then just the one like in the US.

but that is what I am getting at.

3G is NOT a provider. Its a group of technologies.

3 IS a provider, but it is NOT called 3G!

Trying to read your posts where you are using the same damn word to describe two different things is bloody confusing. Get it right.

What hes getting at is that when you say 3g you should be saying 3 (NO G). 3G is the technology behind the phones and not one of the service providers.

And if there is definately a deal with 3, then the phone will definately have 3G, as 3 only deal with 3G phones :)

Damn shame you say that they are getting rid of EDGE though as 3G coverage is still shakey around the UK.
