As expected Conservatives did very well. Lib-Dems didn't do much at all and Labour lost a good number of seats.
Big loser was UKIP, so far retaining just one seat out of 144.
There was also a very odd result. When you have counted the votes, and recounted them twice more, what do you do if there is still a tie?
Well the returning officer has the choice of tossing a coin or drawing straws...
Very democratic,-NOT! But it saves the cost of another election. In this case it was decided straws and the Conservatives lost to the Lib-Dem candidate. This result also denied the Conservatives control of Northumberland County.
Which might be an idea, just draw straws for all elections! Would save us a lot of time, some money, and effort. (yes, I'm joking, probably...)
