Matrix room

What the matrix question came from.

This is a basic synopsis of a scene from my latest book, except for the final two lines.

Quote

Scene: a round stone garden feature with stone flooring around a grass area. There are bench seats. Outside gardens are visible all around them.

Elenor (who isnt visible to the others) provides them with an always full bowl of strawberries and cream, so they can eat as much as they want and not get fat. Except it doesnt reduce hunger either. Then a self filling glass of beer for Rachel and a similar glass of red fluid for Lion.

Lion is suspicious, he cant drink alcohol. Elinor appears and complains, she starts crying into her hankie, resulting in it overflowing into a puddle on the floor. He offers to drink the stuff, except when he tips the glass the stuff vanishes just before it reaches his lips. he puts the glass upright, it refills itself and the same thing happens when he tries again.

Elinor promises it wont happen on try 3, it doesnt, it stays solidly in the glass. Then it drops out as a whole onto him. He starts to complain but the fluid vanishes.

The floor vanishes and they drop to the bottom of a pool and react as if drowning, except Elinor eventually persuades them they can breathe there.

Total scene change to a rocky, flat, hot, desert. Their clothes dry. Elinor flies up using a pair of butterfly wings, then falls to her death. Lion complains to her about doing it, Elinor asks if he could have survived.

Crassog (read troll) appears. Elinor vanishes but advises Lion that hes the only one armed, and that while it cant kill them they will still feel pain. Lion finds his sword is now a nifty electric one and he deals with the monster.

Elinor reappears. Lion threatens her with the sword and she says go on, hes already killed her once, another time wont matter. His sword blade flops onto his shoulder, he pulls it over and it flops onto the ground like jelly. He screams in anguish.

Elinor explained, “there is a very good reason I am doing this.”

“It had better be good,” Lion responded, “or, or.. or I won’t be very happy.”

You can have so much fun with a matrix room

What shes doing is showing them its like the training room in the Matrix film, you can practice, play games, etc.

Elinor is about to offer them a direct link so they can go there from anywhere. Problem being their bodies will still be in their original location, so doing it during a fight isnt too bright an idea.
