Somewhere central to everyone seems obvious, its only fair Mark doesnt have to drive to Portsmouth for example since hes coming across from NI. My house isnt suitable btw.

I still think a track meet was a good idea, but does limit who might turn up.

is there a map anywhere with everyones location on it so we could plot an agreeable meeting point ?
Title: Re:Meet Up
Post by: mr_roll on July 14, 2008, 00:23:25 AM
September is good for me. I like the sound of going abroad but financially its insane for myself.

Cardiff would be suitable for myself. Its a bit of a long drive, but I could pick Knighty up, like he did me in that bar (a story for another time), and drive down with him and possible Gav too, oh and Alien8 and bloomin hell theres a lot of people on here from the North East.

Even our fearless leader can be classed as sort of north east :p
Title: Re:Meet Up
Post by: Mark on July 14, 2008, 01:02:55 AM
PS - whereverI fly to I will be getting a hire car so could pick some people up

Any interest in going Goblin ? Id get the car no worries
Title: Meet Up
Post by: knighty on July 14, 2008, 01:03:22 AM
yeah... Ill go anywhere, and a few of us could car share and make it easier.... (tho Im just about to sell mine and havent decided what to get next yet...)

what kind of meet up do you have in mind ?

if its a party etc.. we really need someone to volunteer there house for it... which is a lot to ask...
Title: Re:Meet Up
Post by: Mark on July 14, 2008, 01:04:03 AM
Cardiff does sound decent as I can get to bristol pretty cheaply. And then a short drive from what I understand.

Im going to cardiff in august to see madonna lol
Title: Re:Meet Up
Post by: Mark on July 14, 2008, 01:04:52 AM

£6 Shuttle Bus/Coach from airport to Temple Meads Station, £10 return ticket - 1 hour train journey into the centre of cardiff.

I can do Cardiff and if WG is hard up on space there is a backpackers hostel called "Nos Da" next to the stadium that does single rooms with ensuite for £30 a night.

They also do rooms that sleep like 8 people too if youre not shy, and thats like £10 a person per night roughly.

I cant house anyone, my housemates dont like me coming back at 11pm (from work!) as it is.

Cardiff during the later part of September is wicked though, lots of fresher girls :)

*edit - If we are thinking about Cardiff seriously, I can ask around to see whats cheap, Ill ask at work (Brains - the pub co here) and see if they have any cheap rooms going.

Hotel with the H on its side is prob the cheapest, or the travel inn/lodge whatever chain above walkabouts

you may also want to go on the pissup in the claude.. think you nerds will like a busy pub with putting out students & if you cant score then you can play bowling or go in the arcade corner

Round about 10 ish, the main problem being the size/or more the shape of my living room, I could move some furnature out/around to make more space, so if its a few more above that could start getting a bit cozy! I dont know how many people normally turn up to these things, or what normally happens? There is obviously the main part of bristol for going out? fridge for beer if staying in?, hotels/B&Bs and some space on the floor for lying down?

...As I said, not sure what usually happens?!?

Hmmmmm... Might be a bit cozy, but prob be able to do more than I initially though... I guess if we can get some numbers together then it might be possible?!?.... but no BBQ, xbox/films what ever is sorted..

There are loads of pubs within about 5 mins of the house for some drinks/food or get pizza in.

Have to sort it with my house mate as I havent mentioned it to him yet  :heehaw:

Sleeping space could be more of a problem. I dunno really?

If we get some numbers together, and work it out from there. Or anyone else willing to host?

I might have another place that I can host, but thatd be in sussex (below london) and Id have to check availability. (Just another option that might* be possible?)

Another thought might be to rent out a cottage for a weekend? I dont expect it would work out that bad split over that many people?

...Just a thought?

[edit]

...Had a quick look at a few.. but looks like might be quite expensive... If someone else wants to have a look or know of anywhere?

Id be happy to go to Ireland or anywhere tbh. Never been to Ireland either and its only like £1.50 on the plane, well it was. I think it turns out at about £35 round trip on the plane.

I think we need actual numbers, so why not start a list?

Go get an Audi S8. Get them for under 5K! but go higher obviously and get a better car.

Or what about a Honda Accord Type R? Fast, comfy, well built. No idea of cost but they cant be bad.
