Yeah, even my mum and my ex like it, its just good and really annoying when they take it off for "snooker" or some other crap that does not even get half the ratings. I forget what it was in the last series one week and then everyone talked about the thing that was on for that week did not even come close to half the viewer ratings of top gear the week before.
If the snowey special is anything to go by it should be a good series, as some of you may remember Clarskon asked online what people wanted to see in the next series so will be interesting
-
bump 1 week to go, the best show on TV :o
-
Vroom vroom, cant drive, but I love the show!
-
Thank f*** Ive just got Sky installed. w00t!
-
Woo 1 week! :D

From FinalGear (http://forums.finalgear.com/showthread.php?t=21672):
In the first of a new series Jeremy, Richard and James drive three lightweight supercars across Europe in search of the best roads. Plus Jeremy finds out what happens when you put a Bentley engine into a VW Golf, and Dame Helen Mirren is the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.
Cant wait ! :D

More
http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/show/nextepisode.shtml
As we take the tyre-warmers off a new series of Top Gear, the wait’s almost over. We’ve got ten whole episodes of excellent-ness ready to unleash on your Sunday night viewing schedule, and you simply won’t believe what Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May have been up to over the past couple of months.
So, for one night of the week at least, you can banish cookery and home-improvement programmes from your screen and enjoy some good old-fashioned petrol-based fun.
In episode one, we decided to find the finest driving road in Europe. Coincidentally, Lamborghini, Porsche and Aston Martin have recently seen fit to release a brace of new lightweight road-racers in the form of the Gallardo Superleggera, 911 GT3 RS and V8 Vantage N24. To quote Hammond, I think you can see where this is going.
Also in the first programme, Jeremy takes to the test track in an improbably powerful VW Golf, and we put a monarch (sort of) in our reasonably priced car when Dame Helen Mirren comes to visit.
Later in the series, we’ll treat you to a selection of massive challenges and stunts. You’ll see the glorious return of the amphibious cars, in a voyage that makes the crossing of a reservoir look a tiny bit feeble. We put the biofuel we grew last series to seriously good use. And we spend an entire programme in Africa as our intrepid presenters attempt one of our wildly over-ambitious, but cheap, races.
Also: it was massively delayed, gave some of the finest engineering minds in Europe nervous breakdowns, and is too expensive for all but the richest Arab potentates - and that’s just the car. Find out what happened when the Bugatti Veyron met the Eurofighter.
It might surprise you to know we’ve even thrown in some road tests and reviews of the most exciting and interesting cars to hit the road - including the latest Ferrari, Porsche-baiting new Audi R8 supercar and hotly tipped Caparo T1.
So, stop the clocks, silence the dog with a juicy bone and cancel anything you were planning to do on Sunday evenings for the next ten weeks - Top Gear is back!
Sunday 7, 8pm BBC Two
Repeated Wednesday 10, 7pm on BBC Two

Spoiler your spoilers :(

It stopped being a show about cars a long time ago. I admit the way people cream themselves over and it get intolerably excited about it is a little annoying at times but its still good, fun show to watch.
-
Its pretty much a comedy show now tbh
It has very little to do with cars half the time.

I still think the car reviews that are in every show are good, very informative still but it is something they have already said will be a little better for due to some of the complaints in that area of the last series (we had a thread on that )
I can not wait for the boat car across the channel show, that I know will just be brilliant

I dont think I remember a car review in Top Gear recently that reviewed a car that 90% of the population could afford.
To be honest the cart bits bore me a little.

If they ever brought back reviews of normal cars I wouldnt watch it.
I dont give two f**ks how many mpg the latest 1.6 sh*tbox from ford will do, or how many babies it will carry. I want to see someone thrashing a supercar to within an inch of its diff.
Reviews of normal cars belong on channel 5.

Was watching an episode yesterday on Ukgold and they tell you how it feels to drive and the basic infomration on the cars and thats enough, you want to know the feel and what it offers YOU as a driver and top gear does that well. You can get a book or look on the net for all the massive detail of what a car can do but from a person you want to get the sense of what it is to drive.

Indeed.
I love watching it for the same reason I suspect a lot of the rest of us do - because wed all like to be there ourselves, boys with toys doing challenges and generally having an amazing time with amazing machines. I really dont care if the plastic dash on the new 1.4 Clio is tacky either.
I do want to escape for an hour to get the laugh and wow factor, being on the edge of my seat seeing who will win the weeks challenge.

I must admit I never really had the supercar thing, most of them are fugly and they dont interest me that much; I watch it almost soley for the daft challenges. If its a car heavy episode then I usually feel a tad disappointed, the longer and dafter the challenges the better.
I wouldnt mind if they scrapped Top Gear altogether to be honest as long as the three of them ended up on another show together doing stupid things.
-
Thats more like it !!!
-

More a sit-com than anything else now, i.e. over scripted and over done.
Still, it beats Song of Praise or whatever.
-
ITS TONIGHT!!!!!
Let the countdown begin .......

I just know im going to forget :(

This exactly why Fifth gear bores me to death.
Its a programme for car geeks and car geeks alone as Vicki Butler-Henderson gets off with the fact the diesel version is of something .00023 second quicker through the second turn as driving it in the shootouts.

I just know im going to forget :(
I did forget! :(

Great as always. Most enjoyable.

muchos amusing :D
I love how the internet in the UK dies from about 7:30 onwards until 9pm, as everyone is rushing to cook their tea, and get ready for top gear :D

Pretty much what you might expect, although Im intrigued to see how they edit it. A lot of the big events are "sympathetically edited". From what I understood the Veyron had to do a mile down the runway, turn around, and do a mile back. The Typhoon had to do a mile straight up, come back down and cross the finish line.
-
My ex was chatting to the pilot of said typhoon back a few months ago, was mentioned then theyd filmed it, shes been looking out for it since. :)

My bro working for the company he is at is doing the bulk work for a pitch for top gear tomorrow Website and advertising wise, sounds like they are pushing the new series and future ones and sounds like they finally have been given a load of cash as well
-
It was a meh episode. Pointless film. Star in a sh*t car is stil boring as feck.

New avatar time? :)

One of my mates who does broadcast was offered the job of mixing the sound for TG this season, the strange person turned it down :?
-
The star in a car thing has always been sh*t - either someone is plugging a book or a film or its someone like Jamie Oliver.. its a tea break.
Top Gear put a Reliant on a rocket, a mini down a ski slope and they pissed off all the americans. Awesome.
On the last show they drove along some random roads without really doing much. Meh.
-
i quite enjoyed the new TG, wasnt as good as some but still good, May and his race car was great.

The above mentioned are all their big events and they are al to come, some episodes in older series you never even had some, the new series every week you have some event style element to the show and then a few big ones.
We still have the car boat version 2 crossing the channel to come and that is going to be great.

A bit meh but not boring. Most of them are pointless anyway, thats why we all watch them.
-

-
....its saturday

-
Have no fear ... its not on until tomorrow (Sunday) at 8pm
Its the rugby now!
-

I have to say, the R8 sounds GORGEOUS! I saw one in Newcastle the other day, unfortunately it was to late for my camera, it was such a head turner for me I nearlly hurt my head!
-
lol that was an awesome episode :D
-
the boat thing was awesome, the rest of it was abit pants.
-
I nearly wet myself laughing at the pipe bit, brilliant.
-
smother keira knightley in honey!

That should be Audis marketing slogan.
Whats the betting the show is now fined for allowing smoking in the workplace.
-
Could it have not been made before the ban?? It only came in in July.
I still think the Star in a reasonably priced car lets the show down.

I would not argue it would be time to change it for the next series and fill the time with some other celeb thing
That was brilliant episode as I knew the crossing one would be
That Audi had a silly colour stripe on it but it was a very cool car - v10 and yeah that is sweat
-

Dont think so, I think they shoot the studio stuff the same week. They referenced Hamiltons off which was only last weekend :)
-
please refrain from spoiling it for those having to download it tonight, thanks.
-
Ah. Interesting. According to this Telegraph Blog post (http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/ukcorrespondents/andrewmckie/oct07/the-meaning-of-the-act.htm) "Any performance which requires the smoking of tobacco EVEN WITHIN AN ENCLOSED SPACE UNDER THE MEANING OF THE ACT, is allowable."
So they should get away with it as a scripted performance piece :)
-
Excellent episode, good quip on the current politics too :D
Jaimz
-

virtually none as it was required. I roffled over Clarkson when the little incident happened though
If you aint seen it yet watch it.
please refrain from spoiling it for those having to download it tonight, thanks.
I seem to remember you were arguing on the other side last time this came up, claiming heavy handed censorship :P
-
sarcasm is lost across the internet, also insults didnt add to the matter. However im not about to debate it at the moment.
-
In the middle of downloading the new episode as I was over Newcastle last night :)
Hope its goooooood :)
-
F ING SNOOKER
Why do the bbc take off Top Gear for Snooker, they are just stupid!!
No top gear this week
-
I know
-
Watched it last night, and frankly i was impressed. i love my internet, i grabbed the 700mb episode in 20 minutes :D
-
Back on again this week, including the race between the Jet Fighter and the Veyron.
Also, if you missed the first couple of episodes of this series, Dave (formally UKTVG2) is starting to show them this evening at 7:00.
-
Dave rules
-
Expect a new Top Gear website soon by the way, I seen some of it already :)
It has a bit to much flash for my liking but it is looking nice
-
Someone build a time machine so we can go forward to next sunday to watch the Top Gear special now!!!
-
that looks bloody uncomfortable to drive :o
-
thats the only ferrari ive ever seen that i like. awseome.
-
I think hamster got done again :D
-
That Lambo is gorgeous
Good episode, lots of good short pieces rather than one long one. I reckon May is getting fed up with all the stick hes getting - he looks like hes heard the jokes one too many times.
-

I think hes the most informative and enjoyable to watch to be honest; Clarkson is same old same old and we love him for that as predictable as he may be, Richard Hammond is a bit of a spare part at times.
-
Tbh that was one the best put together episodes for a while now.
It didnt hang around and even the celebrity powerboard interview wasnt as boring this time around.
As setup as it may have been, that "small" car was hilarious.
-
Clarskon driving by on the live news was funny
-
I was gonna ask, was that bit for real?
-
I was gonna ask, was that bit for real?
Was In the paper the other week about him being spotted a while back and it was in regards to new series to be shown soon
Its sound proof glass and the offices are right behind bbc24

Another good episode.
