I keep trying to find a solid reference linking him to the poem but cant - and the lyrics of the poem keep changing!!

Spring has sprung
The grass is riz
I wonder where
The flowers is

Or even better:

Spring has sprung
The flowers riz
The bird is on the wing
How absurd
Id always heard
The wing was on the bird.

Them birdies is on the wing,
Thats strange,
I thought the wing was on the bird!

IIRC Its a nursery rhyme, not a poem although they are basically the same. Usually its treated as anonamous but may have been doen by Spike Milligan
