Grant National 2014
on: March 09, 2014, 23:15:03 PM

Copyright Le Nige

Well my Uncle, cursed by the national for so many years with his steady 3 horse pick...

Until he got the winner in 2010, then 2011 + 2 places (from 3 horses) but dropped off a little and only got a place in 2012, and a another place in 2013 covering the bet for the last 2 years.

His picks are,

Colbert Station again, 25/1 saw it run recently in Ire and backing it again as his main bet.
His 2 backups (smaller bets)
Tidal Bay 16/1
Monbeg Dude 25/1

Looks like this year betvictor have jacked in the 6 places instead of 5 :( betvictor offering 6 places as of 9am this morning (Note Monday after Cheltenham for next year!) Make sure you get a no run no bet (ie money back if your horse doesn't even run)

http://www.oddschecker.com/grand-national-betting-odds/winner <- odds table, remember generally the odds tumble as the event closes in.

My uncles tips are in with the usual caveats, don't bet more than you can afford to lose. The national is quite literally a lottery with so many horses running.

I'll be betting on the trio tomorrow. A tip for anyone wanting to use BetVictor, go into your account and check the deposit limit set, mine was defaulted to £20 for some odd reason! It takes a day for any change to this to take effect.

GASH!

Especially as Colbert Station as last year was bossing it in first for about 4 fences when the horse in front prior went astray!

Then,

"Fence 25 (Valentine's Brook): Colbert Station (pulled up)."

Bloody thing had drifted out to mighty odds of 66/1 (automatically accepted if you bet with BetVictor) so even a place would have been £.

Between fences 15 and 20 Colbert Station was leading the pack, i think had the Jockey had held back til later Colbert Station could have been in with a good chance, it looked like the Jockey made a break for it to early.
