Title: Sold Ebay account
Post by: Bacon on May 15, 2013, 20:31:53 PM
Converted my account to a Business Account, sold it with 100% positive feedback, zero selling limits (new accounts have total per month selling limits), mine was a 10 year old account.

Sold it for £800, got the cash via paypal.

Just a heads up, i know some of you will want to earn a bit of extra cash.  :muttley:

if you can get away with doing that then this throws the whole system into a new light entirely. I shall put less store in large feedback scores in future.

Sell your account on your account, literally convert it to a business and sell it with stock, e.g. Addict-Games, including 2 games for Wii.

Search Ebay for Ebay Account

This is most interesting, accounts seem to be going for crazy money.

How can I tell if my account is unlimited?

Afaik the selling limitations have only come into place in the last couple of years, perhaps a google search will reveal more.

I asked a mate, but my account being 10 years old i assume it was far before any limits.

Awesome, well thanks for the heads up. I dont have any reason to hold on to my account so I'll have a go at selling.

Will update closer to the sale.

The person who bought mine is selling stuff from 1000s of miles away, it looks like a legit business, he has changed all the contact details on the account and obviously the ip will be completely different.

I see your point though Egg, and it did worry me, but several friends have sold their accounts and have had no issues.

Hmmm interesting. My account is 7 years old and barely used, looking at what's already for sale it might actually go for something just due to the no limits and no negative :p

I did. 11 year old account but only 130 feedback.

Changed all my account details to dummy data and unlinked my paypal. Listed, sold before the auction ended after getting an offer for £800. Gave the guy the password.

Couple of days later I get a call from ebay saying they thing my account has been hacked. I answered some security questions, all fine. The new owner then listed an item which got the account blocked. Ebay wouldnt unblock the account and raised an investigation, the new owner raised a paypal claim for his £800 saying he didnt know it was against the rules.

To PayPal's credit, I explained the situation totally honestly, and they ruled in my favor.

My friend also sold his account for £800 but with no issues.

I can tell you it is not worth the hassle or the money, I was persuaded to sell my account after i said no about 3 times.

The aftermath, within months of selling it the buyer got into bad standing and Ebay still link the accounts even though it was sold legally as a business and all the details were changed.

They used this as excuse to drop my selling limits to £500, this lasted for about a year of me emailing every month to complain, eventually they lifted it and after half a dozen times of me telling them its not me, i sold the account and someone else is in bad standing.

It all felt a bit like they were pissed off i had made money off the back of them. I wouldnt recommend it.

Luckily for me as i Trade for other people i just set each of them up with an account/s. I don't sell on my own account anymore its not worth the hassle, and i live and breathe Ebay ask any of my friends! :p

The way Ebay has been going the last 10 years is down, down and further down.
