Sorry bud, but its people like you who make me sick.   What sort of man are you when you send someone else round to do your dirty work?!?  Is violence verbal/threatening really required?  Not being funny, you have got to have a screw loose, whats to say the guy does not pay you a visit?  Is that any way to behave as a parent?  Pathetic!

If I had received a threatening doorstep visit, I would be sueing you big time!!  May be rubbish about the dog, but hey perhaps it should have stayed on a lead.

What goes around comes around!  You may well have done the rest of the folk a favour!

TBH Im not disinclined in any way to see how anyone could respond exactly as he did under the circumstances, if that was my dog Id be baying for blood too.

Thats not to say it would be the right course of action though; I do agree youve shot yourself in the foot on any legal recourse here, threatening the guy was not the way to go about it.

Good on you, Taking the Law into your own hands is the only thing you can do these days. Police are over stretched (reaching for donuts) to care. Besides they prob. already made their quota for the month on cruelty to animals..

dude I read my post back and it sounded worse than it was meant.  Id have kicked off big time if someone did that to my dog.  I dont blame you on that front at all.  I also hope your dog gets better - if the dog wasnt looking like he was going to attack the man then hes an innocent victim of all this.

I just couldnt fathom why someone would strangle a dog for no reason but I guess some drunks have a messed up sense of perspective.  It just seemed on odd situation.  Ive never seen anyone do something like that without some kind of provocation so was hard to relate too.

Dont send someone around again though, no matter how tempting it is.  You actually shot yourself in the foot both legally and may have caused yourself future problems by doing it.  I can understand why you asked your mate, frankly he should have known better and not done it if he really wanted to help you out.

You spoken to a vet about what can be done?

He didnt take the law into his own hands.  Had he actually got the guy to kick the sh*t out of him then it would have at least achieved something.  Even stupider thing to do but it would have at least had a point.  I think a lot of people would have punched the guy in the situation tbh and felt better for it.

By just threatening action hes only stopped his dog getting his medical treatment being paid for.  It achieved absolutely nothing other than cost him the vet fees.

We had to go to a Vet, Kaiser had a stroke, this has not been mentioned, he picked Kaiser up and dropped him, his back leg is badly damaged, all the vet can do is record what happened, theres no proof of what caused it, but its obvious really, Kaizer was a very healthy dog, stupid yes, stroke imminent, NO, funny back leg, NO !!

We will send him the bill, if he refuses to pay, hes admitting he did it, he cant prove our visit, if we beat him up he could. we know what we are doing, people might think Im stupid though.

I just remember some stupid argument with snowballs being thrown at my ex which ended up with a couple of us going up to a chav familys house with bats and escalating from there.  Bricks through windows, broken front doors, etc.

They were hated on the street so other people started joining in and they assumed it was all us.  These things can escalate very very quickly.

We were at a slight advantage in that the house they were trashing was a student rental.  They lived in their own/council house so were suffering more from retaliations.  Once petrol cannisters started being left outside houses we realised it was time to move and leave them fighting the street.  Just be careful man - these things can grow out of control.
