Some refusals appear to be cases of the system working, while others are clearly the opposite.

In January last year, a foreigner who wanted to visit the north east was refused entry to Britain because visa officials ruled it "not credible" that anyone would want to spend a week in Gateshead.

bacon.... we were right in the middle of Gateshead when I had to do that emergency stop for the red light....
(n.b. would have been safer to keep going.... but there's a camera on the traffic lights)

pretty soon they won't accept you in Devon anymore, not only have you seen a nuclear power plant AND you've been to Sunderland..... but you've been to Gateshead too... a place so awesome that even immigration officers at Dover don't want to share it with foreigners !

we drove right past Gateshead stadium too.... it's on the same road as the sideways action !
