Title: Table - circular - 90cm diameter...
Post by: Dave on May 29, 2011, 18:19:04 PM
Looking at furniture for my new flat and probably need some form of table... won't have a dining room and kitchen is small so will need to go in lounge.

Lounge is 15' by 13' and needs to fit 2 seat sofa, lounge chair or two, coffee table in middle and media centre type thing along one wall - was thinking about putting the table next to the media centre and have two chairs with it (with two further chairs on balcony which can be brought in if I have guests).

Obviously I want to save space so I figured a 90cm table seems OK and just two chairs will be fine for me day to day - but would be nice to be able to seat 4 people on occasions - question is, is a 90cm diameter table too small for this?

can't you get one that folds up/out/whatever ?

That is a possibility too - though a lot of them look a bit naff.

This one looks nice

but the dimensions when not extended are still large-ish and its going a bit over budget...

Good point, well presented. However for females - sitting on sofa with dining tray != impressive.

I will have a coffee table for that anyway.

We don't have a table in our flat at the moment, its a nightmare! Not because of lack of space, just because I always find something more exciting to blow £300+ on.

I think you could get 4 people around a 90cm table but it would be pretty tight. Id agree with knighty that some kind of foldy option would be a better call, as you say though, finding a nice one is tricky and/or expensive.

Something like this (http://www.habitat.co.uk/altura-extending-dining-table/dining-tables//fcp-product/961741) from Habitat would work, although not as sexy as the glass number you posted.

i think its down to use, £900 for a table thats only going to be used full size for a few occasions is a bit barmy.
Does it need to be round? round would take up so much more space. a dropleaf table would be better..
maybe something similar to this http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20104718

You need a butterfly table.  It will fold down when your not using it, and the 4 chairs fit inside the space.

thanks for the suggestions - yeah drop leaf /butterfly etc.. seems to be worth looking into - light brown wood won't match other furniture unfortunately, need it to look a bit more contemporary though have now found these two:

90cm * 90cm square reducing to 90cm * 45cm

£314

http://www.franceshunt.co.uk/dine/drop-leaf-gateleg-tables/buxton-black-glass-drop-leaf-table.html

-----------

130cm diameter reducing to 130cm * 85cm (might be a bit large and is pricy...)

£450

-----------

And this regular one

90cm diameter - basic glass table that looks ok

£85
