Heh. Tis scary money, even though you saved a lot, its still so much I think if I was ever faced with the choice Id opt for the "remove all the fecking teeth and Ill just eat soup from now on thanks" approach ><

That did cross my mind.

If a relative didnt leave me the money I wouldnt be here now.
Just a pity she didnt leave me a little more! She was worth £22million

Im in the process of getting my porcelain crown replaced on the NHS (one of the two front upper teeth) at a cost of £200. Ive had the crown about 10-12 years but had to have an apicectomy a couple of years ago at hospital due to an infected root and they pulled the crown down a bit, took a chunk out of it so there was a lot of grey at the top and a bit of yellow.

Got the temporary crown on now - theyve sent the mould to the lab to manufacture a porcelain crown. This is the first Ive heard of zirconium crowns. I take it theyre not available on the NHS? Do they really eliminate the grey "margin"? Is £400 the price for a zirconium crown? Im tempted...

I had never heard of Zirconium Crowns before either. I had heard of the term Zirconium/zirconia which are a man made diamond.

Zirconia is a very tough ceramic material, which can be made incredibly thin.
These types of crowns contain no metal and can be made to look opaque or translucent, depending on your needs. If the zirconia crown is bonded onto the teeth rather than cemented with dental cement, it will not show a black line at the gums the way a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown can.

As for UK availability - then I dont know, not the price.
Out here a normal crown is £190, a porcelin £240 & a zirconia £290.

It could all just be a gimmic tho!

You dont need a zirconium crown to eliminate that, you just need a porcelain crown but it would still be around the 350 mark as its private.

I booked a dentist visit in London assuming it would be covered by my insurance with work. (later found out dental wasnt covered)

Had a 360 degree x-ray (which I never asked for at the start....) and it cost me £150 quid then the f**ker didnt even do the scale and polish bit at the end - apparently had to book another appointment with a hygienist for that and cost another £50 - so basically a total of £200 for something my NHS dentist back home would do for like £16 - originally I just wanted a quick checkup and polish!!!!!

As an aside - maybe I made the wrong career move - perhaps should have trained to be a dentist - he got £150 quid out of me for like 10 mins work.....
