The Turks and Asians came out in force with cleavers and bats to proudly defend their homes, businesses and streets which resulted in the looters being chased away, so imagine what would happen if they were packing heat. I expect these riots would not even have gone beyond looting Currys Digital because of the threat of getting gunned down or the results of one of these knobheads that thinks he's ghetto getting plugged by a local shop owner.

How do we not have a thread about this..

You'll get interesting results if you then do a search for Currys Digital and overlay the two!

I just tried that, didn't match up too well. Do the same thing with JD sports and it's a different picture though, 7 of the first 10 hits for "JD sports stores london" are in or very near riot areas.

I wonder how long it would take, if things continued, before locals took matters in to their own hands? Whether it'd make things worse if a group of 200 looters that had been organising an "event" on twitter, suddenly found themselves facing a group of 500 people who just want to live their lives without dealing with this trash.

Building on that, I wonder what the scenario would be like if we had gun laws / values like in america, where both the looters and businessmen looting would have slightly easier access to firearms. I'm guessing there'd have been more fatalities, but I wonder if there'd have been overall as much violence?

Its already happening - groups from there Turkish and Asian communities have been doing exactly that and I've heard its pushing the rioters to different places.
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

I'd much rather that they beat them to a bloody pulp than push them on to different places to be honest though.

it's the darndest thing though, rioters tend to be more interested in rioting in the areas which don't have crowds of armed locals waving meat cleavers at anyone who looks at JD Sports the wrong way.

Looks like it's all kicking off in Manchester tonight. The arson and looting has already started.

I've just been watching the US coverage of this, it is so embarrassing we are looking like complete idiots to the entire world. China and Iran have criticised  the way this has been handled. WTF.

London police seem to be taking a zero tolerance view today which is good, I just watched a young black lad that was giving the police sh*t get leathered and arrested.

Manchester police on the other hand are just watching people set the city centre on fire.

It is really hard to comment on things without being Racist BUT.

Just about every video I have seen of any of this of people doing just DUMB and Terrible stuff - Black. Young black kids/teens and adults (if you can call them adults)
Yep the Chavs Join in because they are low lives as well but it is clearly a select group of people here.

It really annoys me about Racism as you can not talk about any colour without being labeled that BUT there is stigma for a reason, it just is not about skin colour.
Certain race and type of people have a culture.
If your born into a poor family, black and in a certain area of a town and city which is not a nice area your doing very well for yourself if you do not become scum of the earth and do crime.

Now and again things like this happen to make it all that much worse.

Now posting things like this you will get - Your Racist.

Pacific islanders here and some of my friends and past friends are ALL RACES and my girlfriends Asian!

As to outside of London - What the f**k. IT is just all the Scum just copying and trying to out do each other.

It sets a bad press for everyone but there are just no words for it really.

Police:
The actual police doing a job and doing it well as always
BUT
They are doing nothing, just watching the news and people looting while police are just there on the same street not able to do anything. The rules they are managed by and the commands they are getting are just crap and useless.

If they can not handle this then the Olympic games will be a problem!

It does sum up their IQ, steal a bunch of expensive stuff, then brag about it publicly, posting images of yourself along with what you stole. I seriously hope they all get tracked down and punished, and not just a slap on the wrist. It's not like there's any excuse or alibi for it when you incriminate yourself to the extent these people are!

I can't understand why they're rioting now, it seems to be just for the heck of it.

I know it's not exactly on the same scale, but at least the fights in Libya and Egypt etc began with a purpose, over here it's just people thinking they're 'sticking it up to the man' when actually they're being complete a-holes.

I'm just glad I live in a village - when the old people start throwing petrol bombs, I'll know to start running.

It is the negative side of social media, Tweets, facebook etc getting people organised and feeling part of something big and not feeling alone. Lots of idiots out there who will do dumb things but only in a group. Same with bullies at school - all the same scum of the earth.
With the potential of numbers/numbers they go out and do stuff.

Been watching this play out here in Manchester on the news and radio yesterday and today and the police here have actually started to beat these sh*ts up now.

There were also a lot of volunteers in the city centre this morning cleaning the place up.

Still quite a few sirens to be heard round here and police are arresting any groups of hooded teens, etc that seem to be headed into the city centre.
