The world has gone mad

And some online thing saying Avocado's help avoid getting the virus and this:

Only smart people here so you all know how idiotic much of the world is right now..

109,936 Current cases roughly
Deaths of 3,806
People recovered Recovered: 60,979

All deaths are from people already of ill health and elderly.

Lets take a look at the old Influenza - The flu:
This is the flu season from about October to now.

Cases: 34,000,000 – 49,000,000
Deaths: 20,000 – 52,000

The FLU is WAY worse., Yes this new virus may spread quicker and there is no vaccination but come on people :(

I am really pissed off with the media right now. Us Humans and idiots are doing the damage on social media but the real Media seem to think this is a do or die for them. For years loosing out to Social Media where people often get their latest news from their twitter feed than actual newspaper or website. The actual media has gone so hard with this virus outbreak, even the BBC has gone nuts on this. They seem to think that it is a war with social media and they have to win.

Thankfully, we had been stocking up on basics for months anyway (from Amazon S&S deals usually) so I'm not too worried. Also if you're that bloody concerned why are you braving going down to the shops anyway instead of ordering online for home delivery?

Half the problem is there's an increasing rise in complete and utter distrust of any form of power now (rightly so) Italy locking down millions of people, Japan shutting all schools quite a while back now, US state dept officially saying a cruise isn't a good idea  yet UK has nothing, infact people are pointing out on twitter last night passengers off flights from Italy were completely unchallenged on entering the UK, no checks, nothing, then you've got the NHS promoting they're "well prepared" on twitter, they're not even prepared for winter

I see a lot of the "Relax it's fine" Mantra from talking heads is coming from those with vested interests, generally with holdings in the stock market. Too early to say if it's worse or not than the flu, but if I had to bet I'd go all in on much worse than the flu, the USA haven't even been testing properly, has anywhere? :dunno:

I guess a lot depends on what you read, I read Zerohedge often, which is paranoia central https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/trump-boasts-we-have-perfectly-coordinated-plan-stop-virus-16-million-italians-wake   :tinhat: :tinhat:

I agree with you 100% on the legacy media going absolutely all out, they know they're fighting the tide coming in.

Yep pretty ridiculous, popped to shop yesterday and panic buying had cleared some shelves, theres just no need! Problem is now theres none for those that actually need the stuff.

So paradoxically there is a need  Mad times

a mate of mine has half a shipping container full of hand sanitizer... he normally gives it away free with stuff he sells online.... he's started selling it for £10 a bottle now

it's mental... I don't agree with profiteering... but at the same time I wish I was the one with the stock!

I'm not too bothered about running out of bog-roll, there are plenty of alternatives.
Even hand sanitiser isn't a worry if you're desperate.  The WHO has a guide on their website about how to make some
https://www.who.int/gpsc/5may/Guide_to_Local_Production.pdf

Granted, it's going to be several gallons of the stuff but still....

Or even this

Tea tree oil, aloe vera, isopropyl alcohol and water.  Done.

I work from home now, but just had word that because a visitor with Coronavirus went to the first floor of the building where our office is in London, they've had to close the entire building for two weeks. Glad I'm working remote tbh.

Huge amount of paranoia going around fed by the press and governments.

The death toll has been low between 10 yrs and 60 yrs under 0.4%, above that it rises with the highest chance of dying above 80 and with underlying other medical conditions.

Then one Tory suggested it might help deal with elderly people stuck in hospital beds.

Overall it's not an end of humanity issue.

Funniest bit was a medical woman advising don't touch your face and then promptly licking her finger to turn the page on her notes. EPIC FAIL!

OH, HAHAHA.
Well no spoilers there as everyone knew he was in it :)

Enjoying it so far?

Back on topic....

Lock down and work from home talk or already in place globally, people buying medicines at Chemist and that selling out... Basically even if your not a complete idiot people are stock piling because of the posibility that you have to work from home, schools may close or you are not allowed out - Italy is the extreme but San Fransisco for example is basically on work from home lockdown already.
