Title: Trump
Post by: neXus on July 26, 2018, 07:53:59 AM
How much more is this going to keep going?

- Those tapes just come out
- The Russia stuff
- White house editing out stuff from their official transcripts despite what was actually said and asked of put.
- The nutter's tweets and day to day lying. This week alone he was continuing to praise his tariff's, then gave farmers 12 Billion or something in aid money because they already been hit hard by the tariff war, and then he is meeting a guy from the EU and saying he does not like tariff's.

It is just one thing after another and an impeachment has to be on the cards if not worse?

- He has lied constantly
- He has cheated (on his wife and everything else)
- Paid people off
- Clearly screwing up both the US and the world

I have the popcorn ready, when is this thing finally going to kick off Watergate style?

Probably until the next US general elections, unless the Republicans lose very badly in November.

UK is still in Brexsh*t, with plenty of indications that the Russians were involved as well as the US right wing neo-liberals. Which seems to be a real issue. Right wing extremists on the rise in most countries.

Except for Trump, who is really a greedy little narcissist pretending to be a neo-liberal and he's been found out...

The worst part seems to be that he could using the Russian hacking as a tool to say the election was rigged by the Democrats [all over again] if he loses the elections, or they are using him and he's too stupid to realise it or too narcissistic to believe it. Either way, America is going right up sh*t creek.

Indeed, despite Putin out in public, right next to him saying they hacking to get him there and keep him there... Trump will come out and say the hacking made his people loose.

ref the tariffs stuff, he's previously mentioned back at the G7 that he'd like to slash tariffs, it isn't actually the inconsistent position it appears. He's basically trying to treat the presidency like running one of his businesses and strong-arming a counterparty into accepting his terms.... not exactly the conventional diplomatic approach though this time it has sort of worked in so far as the threat of car tariffs prompted Junker to get on a plane and make a concession + agree to further mutual cutting of tariffs

ref the Russian stuff, I'd put that down to stupidity mostly, I'm not really one for conspiracies. I think he's screwed up there, he knew some of his team were meeting Russians, he's then tried to deny it when he realised they shouldn't do that and pretend he wasn't aware - that could be where he comes undone and gets impeached (if the Senate and House of Representative have some backbone). The other stuff re social media etc.. they've done that unilaterally and the pee pee tapes (though I guess possible given his porn star/hooker habit) is a bit far fetched.

The other thing is the way he's handled the media, he's literally been caught red-handed not only cheating on his wife but also arranging a dodgy payoff, he's a Republican partly reliant on the good old Christian, family values vote etc.. and yet they seem to willfully ignore all this stuff. Perhaps his constant labeling of the media/CNN as "fake news" has helped with a bit of conditioning, perhaps some people only care about what Fox news says or perhaps US politics has become so damn polarised that they are fully aware that he's been utterly reprehensible in his personal life, treated his wife like crap and yet in spite of that they still would rather vote for him over a Democrat candidate.... perhaps all three of those are factors.

Oh and on the topic of Trump if anyone didn't see this before, it sums it all up pretty nicely. I don't always agree with youtube character "Jonathan Pie" but I've got a lot of respect for him and in this instance, he is absolutely on the money with regards to Trump winning the election:

(there is some swearing so might not be suitable if you'reat work)

The prblem was two main issues, the right wing neo-liberals and Putin backed Trump with dodgy political propaganda. The right wing racists thought he would really back kicking all the migrants out behind them is the free speech enshrined in US law. They were obviously wrong thinking Trump was one of them, he isn't. Putin backed him to destabilise the west, probably the best money deal he will ever make closely followed by backing Brexit.

Politically Trump is a loose canon, he cannot concentrate on one thing and keep it up. For Putin this is probably ideal.

Jonathan Pie is wrong. Trump didn't win because he was a good person for the job, the public in America are simply sick of being sold out by politicians, and faced between someone who might just give them a break and someone who represents more of the same they were looking for any excuse not to vote Clinton. They got it via the Russian interference putting out propaganda and false information.

The far right won't go away, especially not with the ability to put pit huge amounts of propaganda via the internet. That is a problem the American politicians really need to look at as well as our own government and the EU. Bannon and his right wing cronies are pushing to infect this side of the Atlantic too.

Jonathan pie didn't claim Trump was a good person for the job - I'm not sure where you're getting that from. I also think that the "Russian Propaganda" has been massively over exaggerated, it had a minimal impact at best. The main reason Trump won was because he faced such a dire opponent who as Pie pointed out offered pretty much nothing.

I'm saying Pie got it wrong because there were massive outside factors other than just the two parties. Secondly they aren't being tough on the alt right, they are being far too lax. The American racists call the left snowflakes for a reason.

The anti-Clinton on line campaign was highly targeted. Hit the right few percent with the right message and you can swing things. That is what the present investigation is about. They were not just targeting anyone but swing voters that were most likely to support trump.

The big ending was the barrage of lies aimed directly against Clinton, including fake ones that she helped operate a brothel as well as hacking and selective release of documents. Others were aimed to help Trump, such as the pope supposedly supporting him. Many of them were from Eastern Europe, and were people just trying to cash in on the election, but they had an effect too

Well both sides made use of targeted social media campaigns, I'm not sure that is particularly relevant tbh... If you look at any number of US elections you get all sorts of attack ads etc.. and these days the various social media ads can be highly targeted. We had the big fuss over Cambridge Analytica too I guess though they basically just used a fairly simple regression model.

Maybe Trumps campaign team was significantly better than Clinton's in this respect, though he was working with a smaller budget than her (950 million vs 1.4 billion) it doesn't seem like a good excuse/explanation tbh..

The budget difference made little difference, Trump made up for less money by being far more controversial, he was hardly off the news. TBH the American Republican party made this a problem in itself. Dumb down your voters, keep them from knowing what you are doing by manipulating the media. Trump got to be Republican candidate by pretending he wasn't a nasty money grabber like the real Republicans, and claiming he was the rebel choice. The problem being he hijacked the Republican party, not a good idea, you do as they say or they impeach you. He then managed, with a lot of help, to get the same odour to stick to Clinton.

So the lower end of the dudes are getting nailed right now. It must only be a matter of time before everyone starts bailing on Trump when they realise the end is getting closer and all burn him to try and save their own skins.

If he goes it is the same way as Al Capone, tax fraud.

I am actually surprised it has taken this long, he must be impeached soon surely?

He just shot himself in the foot even more in an interview yesterday as well.
I think I saw that it took longer to get Nixon and it just takes time because he is the President. I think the key thing is he thinks he is untouchable and hopefully he continues to slip up.

Republicans control both houses, there needs to be a vote in one then he gets tried in the other. That is unlikely t the moment. What they are waiting for is the half term elections in November, if the  houses switch control then it opens up the option to impeach him and put him on trial. The vote just needs a majority of 1, so 51 for impeachment 49 agaiinst, the Republicans have 51 seats. The trial needs a 2/3rds vote saying guilty IIRC. He would be replaced by the Vice President.

I guess as soon as these mid-terms come up and if they loose a load of seats more of the Republicans will start to turn on him.

You all see he is blaming google and co for fudging search results etc because he has realised most of the news on the web about him is negative? LOL. Cant be true so must be all fake and fudged too! LOL
Problem is staff resources are then used to run his requests to "look into" things like this, lol.

There is a claim that Trump is going to go against the WTO, claiming it is a bad deal. If it collapses there is going to be a lot of problems, and not just for America and Britain.

Trump at rallies and in front of the camera for months now has been talking about attacking the media, the media are bad as well as other people he does not like or has declared the enemy.
Some of his nut job voters have recently taken action such as the postal bombs and he recons it has nothing to do with him. This guy needs to be removed ASAP before more people seriously get hurt or die.

And what do you know, The Yankees vote against Liam Fox's fast-track deal to get the British back under modern WTO rules trading. Other countries who also brought up issues with the plan include Russia, China, Australia and New Zealand.

It took Russia 18 years of negotiations to finally sort out it's membership. Britain might not have that sorted until 2036 or later.

Where to start, Trump's charity is being shut down, varying people have given testimony against him. His attempts to defend Putin and protect Saudi Arabia just make his situation worse.

The only thing standing between Trump and a long term holiday in a US prison is the Republicans.

Now Trump has said that if the government closes down it's going to be all his fault.

The only thing that comes close to rivalling it is the battle for Brexit.
