My Story

A few years ago i registered 3 domains with UK Reg:

The first domain i didnt want to renew, it came up for renewal, and renewed because i didnt expect them to take payment. The second time it came for renewal i had already expressed via telephone that i didnt want it to renew, but guess what it was renewed.

The second domain i wanted to renew as i had bigger plans for it, however when it came up for renewal guess what it was released, a short while after a website popped up at the address.

The third domain is gurureview.co.uk some of you might remember this was my old review site, the first time it came for renewal i renewed it. About a few days ago i received an email to say this domain expires on the 22nd december, so i thought i have plenty of time to sort this out.

The domains were originally registered with UK Reg, but the account has now been changed over to fasthosts, so now i have 1 account for the domains and 1 account for my email package.

I removed the cc details from the UK Reg (domains account) so that they would not auto renew the domains this time without my permission.

My cc details are still available but only on a separated account that has different login details.

Ive spent the night getting an email account off a mate, and moving all the websites and game accounts i have to the new address.

However i receive an email tonight saying that the domain has been auto renewed??

I even logged in today, and turned off the option for auto renewing in the account.

I also called Nominet because im wanting to surrender ownership of these domains/

I know when i ring fasthosts tommorow they will make up some bullsh*t story and make it out to be my fault, this isnt the first time ive had problems with them.

It is however quite obvious that after doing everything i could to stop the domains auto renewing they have now switched tactics to taking my cc details from a completely separate account,

IS THIS LEGAL ?? I MEAN FFS I AM GETTING SICK OF THIS, AND f**kTARD COMPANIES LIKE FASTHOSTS MESSING ME AROUND LIKE THIS.

yes my blood is now boiliing, but i would like some advice please.

No, its not legal. Phone your card company and explain it to them. You may have to cancel the card though and get a new one.

I had the same issue with 1&1. Exactly the same.

I removed the card details. Notified them I didnt want it renewed, ignored the renewal reminders.

They did it anyway and then sent me bills and passed the debt onto a debt recovery company when I refused to pay.

I paid £45 for a domain in the end, that I did not want, and now as Ive kicked off verbally and written, theyve cancelled my account, but in cancelling my account theyve removed my access to my control panel.

I now own www.m3-computers.com www.m3-computers.co.uk and www.richardhicks.info which are all domains that I have no control over, are pointing either at 1&1 holding pages, or at etgs suspended account pages, and are completely useless to me. :(

Ive had no recourse after fighting with them as they "lost" my emails saying "DO NOT RENEW", and as I paid the debt collecting agency (Id fought it with them and they told me Id get bailiffs sent my way in 7 days unless I paid), they class it as a new contract. Then they said theyd cancel... at which point they removed my access to the control panel. To regain access im expected to purchase another domain name with them (the supervisors words) which will put the auto renew cycle back on.

Ridiculous. Youve my every sympathy bacon, but I think youre in the same situation as me.

Logged in today, and as Sam says there was an option to deleted my CC, however there was no card previously registered to the domains account, they have simply copied my details over from the other account i have, which i dont believe it right, but, thats a different story.

Ive just faxed Nominet to surrender all my domains, once i receive confirmation i can call Fasthosts and get my card wiped from the system and my account closed.

I hope this is the end of it.
