Wheres the best place to get some Euros at the moment? I was planning to go to M&S.

Im going to Paris in a few weeks for 3 nights, not sure how much money I should take either but Ill be going to The Eiffel Tower, Louvre and possibly Euro Disney. Im hoping £250 will be more than enough.

good luck imo.

i can reccomend for paris hiring velob cycles (euro for 1 days hire, you need 150 euros deposit, the machines come in english flavour as well and it uses your chip and pin card so even less chance of losing money etc...) and cycling around paris. you can do larch du triuph, tower effiel and the louvre in around 4 hours leisurely cycle without having to navigate around the metro system.

euro disney will be around £120 euros, eating out is around 20 euros per meal (depending on where you go), the latin district is pretty good, also at night everyone (travellers) congregate on the steps of the sacre curre to watch street performers doing crazy stuff.

around by the louvre, i think there are a few good science museums and galleries which have some interesting exhibitions on atm if i could find the bookmark i can give you the exact address one of my friends pieces are being exhibited.

the louvre is probably a bit waste of time, as you cant really get enough time to enjoy a lot of it, i would recommend hopping on the metro and going to Versailles and seeing the palace there, which is about 5 mins up the road from the station, its absolutly beautiful and if your going with friends you can hire a boat to take on the lake and have a bit of a gas.

Join the Nationwide BS and get a credit card too, No excessive charges plus it covers you in case something you buy is faulty.

Use debit card to get cash and credit to pay for goods.

You will get a better rate on your debit card than any exchange place.

its 5%, the first month out in france i learned that the hard way. it isnt that bad imo. the nationwide card is bollocks imo, my flatmate had one when we first started and they stung him pretty bad, he transferred a load of money into that account and when he arrived and tried to use it, it was disallowed, they also made him jump through hoops to get his money back as well :/

Pick up a museum pass too. You should be able to get one from where you leave or order one in advance. Doubl;e check that it covers everywhere you want to go (normally the Eiffel isnt covered btw) But it will get you into the back door at the louvre and a whole bunch of other places. If you hit 3-4 museum/gallery then it covers itself quite well.

Should have gone to Nationwide, then its free of charges that some other banks shove on. Look on the charges tab.

All banks charge commission on exchanges. They sell to you at a lower rate than what they get. That is their commission. Some also charge a commission rate on top. Either way they are making money. Just use your debit card and dont worry for the 10pence either way it will cost

parents use nationwide, they love it, me and the girlfriend are going away with them in feb, and im giving my mother my spending money so we can just use her card if we need more cash.  It works, your mate might have had a bad problem, but everyone else i know that uses nationwide says they are good if you travel a lot.
