on: April 22, 2007, 19:07:25 PM
I been going around saying in a number of articles here and to others around the web that vista is just ME version 2 and that an xp vista would be around the corner

At least others are calling it ME 2 as well now

Hard to hack?  They are selling on the streets of china for about a dollar.

I honestly dont think its a bad OS.  Its a natural step from XP, one I couldnt go back on.

But tbh, its not quite there yet.

it wont even INSTALL on my BRAND NEW box!

It appears that it dislikes the ATI Raid controller so much it wont install.  XP has been a pig with the HD Audio (so i turned it off for now), but thats a minor issue.  Not being able to install it i would consider a major issue.

I tell you, give it end of next year if not earlier and you will hear of not a full new version but something called VistaS or something which will be the xp of ME and have the nice looks and features but none of the crap and work better and have good driver support.

Im still using an NF3 board on my current desktop rig... Ok yeap thats not modern, ive slacked when it comes to the enthusiast thing in the last two years however for the majority of people NF3 isnt even slightly out-dated.

There is liturally NO RAID support for this chipset.
This is bucking bullsh*t, and as a result (after around now a month and a halfs use) Im about to revert back to Windows XP.

Come to think of it, possibly a Ubuntu / XP Dual boot. Its not like I play many games anymore either.

edit: Im not even using any of the new Vista features either.

The most annoying thing is that bullsh*t network and sharing centre thing. And the fact that you have to go through a hundred bullsh*t windows to get to what you want to be tinkering with.

RUN prompt ftw.

Then theres that UAC bullsh*t - You have to basically click a prompt box every time you want to do something to confirm its not a virus or some sh*t.

I mean, JESUS... Theyve had the open source community and OS X staring them in the face for quite literally YEARS now with things like SUDO and the way ubuntu for example locks out root and manages OS security by allowing you to obtain administrative priveladges for X time/current session or whatever.

ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS STEAL THE IDEAS. They did one worse, stole the ideas... but destroyed them at the same time!

Vista SP1 then.

edit:
XP has a ton of annoying sh*t you have to get rid of;

Stupid search companion
Simple file sharing
Certified Driver prompt
dya wanna send an error report to ms prompt.
WGA

But it also does a lot of things really well over say win2k

RDC for one.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Yeah your right come to think of it. The jump 2000 to XP was exactly the same.

Personally, I still think some of the criticism on hardware support is unjust.  It is the single most tested piece of software tested prior to market release.

Its not like raid card manufacturers never thought, can I use raid 5 with vista with this card and these brand of sata disks, or Nvidia never asked, what happens when I stick 2 cards in sli in?

To mind mind that says that it should have less errors than any other piece of software ever released.
