The Mint, on ITV - a programme with no intention other than to rip the general public off
You ring in, at 2am, to be greeted with a lottery system, which if you are successful, means you go through to another lottery system, in order to get onto the actual show.
With me so far? (this costs you 60p by the way).
If you get on to the live show, you have the oppportunity to guess at a Family Fortunes style survey i.e. guess the people/groups in "5 Number One chart acts". There is no other criteria except for this, no, really.
So after 2 hours of pissed up punters ringing in, the absolutely lovely Beverley French (pictured) starts to give clues like, "one of the people mentioned is from Manchester" etc. and as time goes on, it gets easier until they are basically telling you the answer (if you guess one of the answers you get a cash prize).
So, were down to the last few minutes of the show, the final group (worth £8000) is left, the clues are:
The leader singer is, Mike Skinner.
The Cryptic Clue was: Dry your eyes, mate (a line from one of their songs, obviously)
The contestants answer?
A Tissue...
Oh yes and dont despair, you can always have a go at "The Mint", guess the four digit code and win £100,000 - GUESS THE FOUR DIGIT NUMBER!!!! chances? 1 in 1/4 of a million...

But yes this program sounds just like the utter sh*te on the other quiz channels on sky. Its funny the people who ring in because they have too much money and want to waste some of it on their phone bill.

Even if you didnt take part it was very entertaining tbh, a lot more relaxed show with crazy anticts. That and the jackpot was a lot more realistic, it was a £5000 cheque, you had to guess the pence value 00-99.

I love them all, this poor woman was literally a stick on certainty to scoop 8k, anyone would have gotten it, but not only did she get it wrong.... i dont even think she knew the rules... :shock:

The chances of guessing a 4 digit code are 1 in 10,000 not 1 in 250,000.
You have to go through the selection process first, a maximum of 1 in 25 get through that. These shows are pure ripoffs.
At least you can enter the Deal or no Deal free on the web... ;)

Couple of years back I was in the local library and there was a phonecal from another one that the alarm had gone off and they needed the code, some idiot shouted it across rather than walk. I happened to mention loudly, "well we all know now..."
Im not worried about them shouting out their pins as very few of them will be known to other people watching, most wont use their pin anyway. Im far more worried about people who will will give their passwords and details for a cheap freebie...

You know whats worse is that for us with Freeview we are going to be loosing Men & Motors just so ITV can put their crappy quiz channel on called ITV|PLAY. What a waste all ITV care about these days is how much £££ they can make. :x

We are spared the flood of quiz shows your lot has, probably due to the average Americans pantry of answers contains only two cans of celery soup and some saltines. The quiz shows we do have are of grand quality. (http://www.npr.org/programs/waitwait/)

my auntie won 11.5k on that show last week :o
she was on the show on thursday night :thumbup:
she got through 3 times and won 10k, 1k and £500 :shock:

It is funny just how much money can be made out of the greed of others there are so many competitions in newspapers, scratch cards, the lottery & now TV programs.

well she does play these kinda things alot i think, so probably wont win in the end, bit like online gambling, you win a bit and lose a hell of a lot :shock:
