erm... its the internet fella. To many people take the internet seriously
Different strokes for different folks egg, just because you can switch off and believe that "its just the internet" others cant and see it as just a valid means of communication as phone or face to face contact, there is no right or wrong. The idea that "its just the internet" is usually the party line towed by people who find it easy to get lost in the faceless, expressionless text and forget that there is actually a human being at the other end typing these things in who doesnt hold the same beliefs as you.
Now Im not pointing fingers at anyone (before anyone decides to get hissy), (Im just making a point), but the people who throw their weight around on internet forums as some people do on Tek generally wouldnt behave this way face to face or even on the phone to other people. Of course youll never admit it and jump in with a lot of bravado spouting nonsense like "of course Id treat people like that in the real world!" But the truth is you wouldnt because you pretty much would not be able to function as a member of society if you were so anti-social. So its important to keep in mind that there are those who act on the premise that they are actually communicating with other people and can get a bit upset when insulted (especially if they arent very thick skinned), and then there are those who hide behind the relative anonymity of the internet and forget about the human element.
