It's pretty but I hate it already... no linear throttle and there's no control over the yaw/pitch/roll rate.

FFS - what were they thinking?!

Ok, so I made the "mistake" of binding left/right, up/down rather than just simply assigning an input for each. Much better now that I have full control.

Check BBs for missions (obviously, but...) if you get one to deliver to X port if you go and make a cup of tea and then check the BB again it often refreshes so you might get another to X port so you can stack them up.

Don't rely on the trade maps, it's best off if you literally note the prices down at a station! (F10 is screenshot)

Play the tutorial to get the flight/docking basics, if you don't you'll get reamed.

In the sidewinder don't bother trying to fight anything really, chuck all your pips to ENG and just leg it (make sure to use boost)

Tip: Play 'Solo' (NPCs) first to get used to the mechanics then go to 'Open' (PVP).  :ptu:

I found some 'Ancient Artifacts' drifting in space, nabbed them and sold them off to the tune of 12,000cr or something.   Then I look and see I've been fined 20,000cr for illegal goods.

WTF? What's the point of cargo drifting in space if you can't sell it?

You have to sell it at the appropriate places. From what I gather, it's not as easy as it used to be to earn cash from illegal goods.

while you can sell illegal goods at places that have blackmarkets, you may still get cargo scanned & fined/bountied.

Check if you're anywhere near Pinouphis, in which is watts dock one of my favourite ports, anarchy, blackmarket, full supply of dodgy stuff such as narcotics/slaves and battle weapons, and excellent ship weapons outfitting. Even if you get scanned the only thing illegal is toxic waste.

I always go there if I have a hold full of dodgy stuff :D

Wow do I feel like a n00b. I did all the training and so far so good (takes a while to get used to flying using the mouse but I feel competent enough).

A few things I've noticed, when going into superspeed to travel to places, pressing J, it seems to be awkward to time when to slow down and drop back out. I ended up very far away from the station and it seems like the only way to get there is to spend five mins at full throttle. Is there a quicker way to get there or am I just dropping out too early?

Second is actually filling up my cargo hold - I can't figure out how to. When I go into starport services I get a bulletin board, but no market/trade board to load up on goods. How do I buy stuff to trade in other systems?

Edit: Okay, so it looks like not every starport offers a commodities market, hence my confusion. Back in I go...

From a Sys Admin I know at Frontier
Elite Dangerous has now been out for about a month and a half. In that time our player base has managed to discover 615,475 so far uncharted star systems in the Galaxy. Only around another 399,999,384,524 to go, then....

I've been discovering/analysing systems - not realising that I'm actually the first in the game to do so. Thought it was an 'immersion' thing but, no; it's genuine.

Have a fully-fitted Viper but still struggling with Anacondas.  All good fun though.

Really surprised there's hardly any griefing going on - which I fully expected from my EVE experiences.

It's all a bit repetitive and the dogfighting grind is really the only way to make fast cash at the moment but 8/10 from me so far.
