used the 300m sloiger lens I said I bought in an earlier thread

The Left pic is a crop of the unedited version. The right one is the same pic, but quickly thrown through some software

OMG!!! The Moon is dead! Ya killed it! B*stard!

nice pic. A longer exposure and more light might have improved it.

looks like you got a pretty good deal on the Soligor, certainly producing some usable pics anyway. Just goes to show you dont always have to spend hundreds to get started. Sure a decent Canon or Sigma lens would be better, but when you consider the order of magnitude increase in price it would need to be.

You say you threw the tweaked version through software quickly, Id try it again and take your time over it. There is obvious potential there but youve blown out the highlights on the right hand side of the moon. Good first attempt though.

A trick I like is to take several shots and stack them with Registax. Particularly useful for astro shots as noise tends to be a problem and stacking even as few as 5 shots can drastically improve your signal to noise ratio. Only problem is Registax is really designed for video so sometimes the built in alignment system doesnt work well with SLR shots and you have to line them up some other way. If there arent many then manually is as good a way as any.

Ohh, so close if that was a little more focused that would be a brilliant picture, still really nice though

Thats pretty impressive. I got a SLR and wish I had the time/money to ue it like that. If you like that kinda stuff check see if theres an observatory in your locale, looking through at the planets and stuff is awesome.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Yep, the problem was my Telescope was really unstable, especially with the weight of the camera.

Next time I try it, Ill get the tripod out for the Camera body as well.

Ive also got a 2x tele adapter that could go even closer + a few other telescope eye pieces - the eye piece I used was my weakest one.

In fact, I should have just used my Slogier Lens. The moon was full & seemed very big last night.
