Brownsea Island yesterday

Work asked me to go over to the island and count the birds on the man-made islands in the lagoon...and take pictures. Fun fun fun.

This one would have been great if it weren't for the photo bombing black-headed gull in the background.

It was pretty hilarious when an elderly couple came in each with mahoosive lenses on what looked like some top-line Nikons. The gent had that neoprene camo cover stuff on his lens, and they both had handles mounted underneath the lenses, handling the cameras like they were machine guns (and they sounded like it too). While they were in the hide I felt like it had turned into some kind of machine gun emplacement. They both would sit there and then one would nudge/point/grunt and they'd both swing their cameras around and take craploads of photos in a continuous burst as a tern flew past. I can't help but wonder how many hundreds (thousands) of photos they have of the same thing :|

I was just trying to get photos of as many different kinds of bird behaviour as possible for uni to use in future work. Avian sexy-time was included!

It wasn't cold, I couldn't decide whether to change the white balance to slightly warmer, but I felt it made it too warm. I was comfortable wearing a t-shirt, long sleeve shirt and a thin technical softshell all day.
I love it when I'm asked to help with this stuff as I feel like I'm essentially paid to take photographs.

Nice in flight photos, something I've not managed to really get myself yet.
I wouldn't worry too much about the white balance it looks alright to me, but its up to you as you were there at the time, if you think they look a little cold then go for it.
